Two suspects have been arrested for breaking into a car in Central California after they accidentally called 911 on a mobile phone.

A dispatcher in Fresno was able to hear a rambling 35-minute conversation between the two men as they discussed buying drugs and what implements to use to break into vehicles.

"Get the bolt and give me the hammer just in case," one suspect is heard saying in a recording of the 911 call.

After laying their plans, the suspects can be heard smashing out a car's window and celebrating as they drove off with their loot of prescription medication.

"They're norcos! Yeeeahh!" one man said.

Fresno police arrested Nathan Teklemariam and Carson Rinehart, both 20, on May 9 for investigation of burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of stolen property, Sgt Jaime Rios said.

After the break-in, the dispatcher picked up clues about the suspects' destination while continuing to listen in on the call and notified officers. Within minutes, a squad car was on their tail.

"He's right (expletive) behind me, dude!" one man said. "Oh, he's following me, dog! He's following the (expletive) out of me, bro. Wow, what did I do?"

The recording continued after the officer pulled them over.

"Good evening. What did I do?" one of the men asked the officer.

Police found stolen items and placed the men under arrest.

At the end of the call, the men discovered how they were caught.

One suspect said: "We really called 911?"
