Human body exhibition Empty Human body exhibition

Post  Flap Zappa Fri Oct 18, 2013 1:16 am

I went to see Human Body exhibition today. Extremely interesting and not at all creepy. Plastinated bodies and sectioned ones.
One was a skeleton holding hands with the body, pulling against each other. You could actually look in the top of the head and see out through the eye holes. A little weird.
the most interesting ones were the veins and arteries including a complete body made up of just the vascular system. they also had one which was just the nervous system with a brain with the eyeballs and all the nerves of the spinal column exposed.
They also had a series of embryo's from a week up to about 20 weeks. They start looking real quite early in their development although quite tiny.
they had a couple of complete bodies posed, one kicking a football, one running and one playing darts, as well as one in the pose of the thinker.

If you get a chance to ever go it is well worth it.

I love this kind of stuff! Have you ever been to that museum in London - I always forget what it's called! - where they have human body parts in glass jars? Not just humans but animals too.
Really fascinating!
Where is this exhibition?

Hunterian Museum at the Royal college of surgeons! That's what it's called. Just remembered.

they also had a section on reproduction which had about 20 or so babies in various stages of growth from a week or so up to about 20 weeks.
