Book question for anyone

Post  stardesk on Sat Jan 04, 2014 4:16 pm

Hi folks.
Has anyone read Salmun Rushdi's 'Satanic Verses?' I never have and wondered if it's worth while trying to get it, or borrow from the library.

why do you want that??

if i understand it correctly his book doesn't actually deal specifically with the event you're talking about, in the way that a factual work would

Hi Smelly. I was under the impression it was a critique of the Koran. I thought that was why the Mossies were gunning for him.

i haven't read the book so i cannot say for certain but i believe that it is not specifically a critique as such

the pandemonium resulted from the sensitivity of the satanic verse incident which allegedly took place when Muhammad was talking to the quraysh tribe in their mosque and trying to convince them to convert to his brand of Islam

the incident is of EXTREME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! embarrassment to the top dogs in the Muslim world and over the centuries and they have done much to erase and alter what took place, going so far as to alter the qur'an after Muhammad died

salman Rushdie touches on the event in his book but apparently uses a pseudonym for muhhamad and "puts it out there" for the readers to make up their own mind

the satanic verse affair essentially make a lie out of Muhammad being a monotheist and being divinely guided by god,and thereby destroys all Islamic theology

that is why Muslims went apeshit about the satanic verses affair
