Ain't private medicine great Empty Ain't private medicine great

I went to a private hospital today to have my shoulder looked at.
IT was a nice modern building and I saw the doctor within about 10 minutes of arriving, he examined my shoulder and organised an xray for me which I went down stairs and had and then went back up to see the doctor who checked the xray, no disease thankfully so it was a muscle problem in my shoulder, swollen apparently and rubbing on the bone when in certain positions. Well I could have told him that as I had exactly the same problem a few years back in the other shoulder, I think it is golf related, however in the UK I had xrays and then an MRI where I waited weeks for the results which when they finally came said nothing was wrong and they could not do anything.
So I was expecting pretty much the same reply this time, however the doctor, who to my surprise spoke english explained he would giver me something called shock wave therapy, I think he called it, basically it is similar to an ultrasound that they use to break up kidney stones. He said I would need to come once a week for three weeks and that should improve things. I was expecting to have to make an appointment for the first treatment but not at all, we went into another room and he gave me the first treatment there and them. IT's a probe that emits high level ultrasound in pulses, some jelly went on my shoulder and he rubbed the probe all over my shoulder for about 5 minutes or so. It wasn't painful although there was a little discomfort. However when he finished I could lift my arm up above my head without any pain for the first time in about 18 months.
I have to get back for the next couple of tuesdays for more sessions and he thinks that may sort me out. IT took my other shoulder a couple of years to sort its self out.

now of course this was a private hospital so I did have to pay, the cost for the consultation and all the courses of treatment I will have comes to massive total of
Wait for it

chequebooks at the ready

£6.50.

Absolutely love it. Cannot beat it.

Rather shows what a third world shit system we have here in the UK and the public are so fearful of paying for healthcare due to horror stories. Err........hello......we are taxed exhorbinate amounts for this system which is nothing more of a political tool and way of state jobs and pensions......for the government of the day to control in their chess game

Thank god I have private healthcare through work....

It certainly seems that the private system here is well worth it. People also get the chance to invest in the hospitals before they are built and you can make a tidy sum getting involved in them that way.
I have been to a public hospital here some time ago and they are crowded and you have to queue, unless of course you know a doctor, or know someone who knows a doctor then you can avoid the queue.
But the private hospitals are first rate, and health tourism is big business over here now. Dental treatments are much cheaper then the UK. And my dentist here has equipment as good if not better than my private dentist in the UK.
She is also far prettier Grinning
I give the health system here a big thumbs up.
