DNA profiles and fingerprints of up to 800 terror suspects wrongly destroyed in police and spy paperwork blunders
DNA profiles and fingerprints of more than 100 suspected terrorists have been wrongly destroyed because of police paperwork blunders.
A damning report said the records of the suspects were deleted after forces failed to complete forms which would have allowed them to be stored indefinitely.
And Biometrics Commissioner Alastair MacGregor said the number of potential extremists who details could have been kept could be ‘appreciably larger’.
Mr MacGregor said biometric details of 810 individuals expired last year because senior police officers had failed to decide whether they should be retained on a database of terrorist and criminal suspects.
It means potentially vital forensic evidence has been thrown away at a time when Britain is on high alert for a terrorist attack.

I find it quite sinister that although qualifications for various careers police, nursing, social service, government etc are becoming university level, the calibre of those qualifying seems to be scarily lowering - drastically.
I have a cousin who joined as a probationer police officer - no specific qualifications who, finished well up the promotional ladder through hard work, it took him many years to achieve this, as indeed it used to, to allow I would think a person to gather experience firstly at police officer level then at sergeant then at each other level they are able to achieve.
I seriously cannot believe the kind of ineptitude currently displayed in all walks of life, all over the western world is an accident, you may get one two or a few, here and there over the years but everywhere all at the same time? Look at the EU and the migrant crisis, it couldn't have been handled anymore badly if they had tried, which they probably have.

I will most likely take some stick for this, but there was a women on TV that was introduced as a Chief Inspector. She looked about early 30's. No way she worked her way up through the ranks gathering experience as she went, I reckon she was "fast tracked" because of her sex.

Don't forget the "Diversity" % .@nicko wrote:I will most likely take some stick for this, but there was a women on TV that was introduced as a Chief Inspector. She looked about early 30's. Doesn't matter if you are as thick as pig-shit as long as you fit the "diversity" numbers you will be fast tracked to make the top brass look good on paper. No experience or intelligence needed.

I am all for equality, if you can do the job there should be no bar but I agree with Nicko, my husband and I ( don't mean to be trying to sound like the queen honest) often comment on the age of various high ranking police, especially I have to say the women, they are graduates so don't have to do the slog 'cos theys more inteligent ain't they?' Forget dedication forget aptitude or a nose for the job as long as they have a degree but are still wet behind the ears, that's ok.@nicko wrote:I will most likely take some stick for this, but there was a women on TV that was introduced as a Chief Inspector. It's known as "fast tracking" and it ensures that certain graduates get to inspector rank in the minimum amount of time.
Women and ethnic minorities are afforded preferential treatment (and no, I'm in no way criticising women and ethnic minorities who achieve promotion on merit) but county forces are expected to adhere to "guidelines" which comprise, in the main, a box ticking exercise.
