President Trump: We'll win appeal on travel ban ruling

The US Department of Justice is formally appealing a federal judge's ruling which suspended President Trump's travel ban.

Judge James Robart had questioned the constitutionality of his controversial executive order, which blocks citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US.

The federal government's request, filed with the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals, asks for the judge's order to be lifted.

"We'll win. For the safety of our country, we'll win," Mr Trump said.

Thousands of travellers from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen have been scrambling to catch flights to America since immigration restrictions were temporarily halted nationwide on Friday night - and those who have valid visas or green cards are being urged to travel immediately.

“The exclusion of aliens is a fundamental act of sovereignty … inherent in the executive power,” the Supreme Court said in 1950. And lest there be doubt, Congress adopted a provision in 1952 saying the president “may by proclamation and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens and any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants” whenever he thinks it “would be detrimental to the interests of the United States.”

this ban is to allow processes to be put in place to ensure visitors are who they say they are.

Lets remember all 19 of the 911 attackers were in america on unvetted visas.

and yes most were saudi.

the government has said other country's could be added to the list.

what this isn't is a muslim ban as it affects minority religions as well in those country's. It does not stop muslims from 56 other islamic country's from entering the united states.
It is basically country's that america has military actions going on in.

I have been to america many times and on a few occasions I have taken hours to get through immigration. that's just how it is in america. It is a popular place, there are queue's. Immigration officials take their jobs seriously there.
