Myself family including females, friends, associates have held legal guns for many a year and NEVER has one of them come up against the law, quite a few of us have been to a shooting school, myself with one of the best tutors in the country.

I am pro gun but do not see the use of multi shot weapons which are specifically designed for war.

Do you know it is possible to buy a 18 shot 12 bore automatic shotgun?

Going out for lunch now.

If you really can buy them here the laws need to be changed in my opinion.

the banning of handguns was a typical kneejerk reaction. The guy was a nutter. LAws were in place and by and large people did not go on rampages. The biggest losers from the ban on handguns was our olympic shooting team who could not train in the UK.

hunting, and vermin control and just shooting for pleasure are all perfectly legal pursuits and if you can pass the requirements you can own a gun. It will require regular visits from the police to check how they are stored which has to be in a locked gun cupboard.
a friend of mine restores and shoots old guns and often goes shooting at bisley and culling deer for farmers. HE has quite a large collection including what would be termed sniper rifles, used for target shooting at up to mile.

I remember whilst in the navy on our gun range one night me and a couple of other guys got through a thousand or more rounds shooting automatic pistols. The Sub Lt (left hand down a bit) in charge of the range was quite a cool bloke.
Also during basic training we got to shoot slr's, I was quite good and on the bases rapid reaction force during the IRA troubles. We also got to shoot sten guns when we went for a competition against the pongos around taunton I think. Now there's a really crap gun. you had to aim low and to the right to get it anywhere near the bull and on full auto was absolutely hopeless.

I also shot lee enfield 303's in the air cadets, that had quite a kick
