Scientists have outlined which moons and planets are most likely to harbour extra-terrestrial life.

Among the most habitable alien worlds were Saturn's moon Titan and the exoplanet Gliese 581g - thought to reside some 20.5 light-years away in the constellation Libra.

The international team devised two rating systems to assess the probability of hosting alien life.

They have published their results in the journal Astrobiology.

In their paper, the authors propose two different indices: an Earth Similarity Index (ESI) and a Planetary Habitability Index (PHI).

Looking for new worlds to ruin, they have pretty near succeeded on this one. One way ticket for politicians might help. Twisted Evil

now all we need to do is develop the colony ship or something that can do a reasonable faction of the speed of light. Of course breaking the light barrier would be best, but folding space may be easier.

the ion drive is a good way to get the velocity needed, it may be a small push, but it can be sustained over a long period.
but of course you have to do the opposite to slow down again when you get there.

Why not terraform?

You could practice on small enclosed colonies on the moon.

That would make sense, which probably rules it out. Smile

PS: Did they try an experiment in the American desert years ago to see if volunteers could survive in a sort of artificial environment. I think I read about it, but I could be mistaken.
