just got back from going to see The Amazing Spider-Man with the Mrs. I was surprised when she said she wanted to see. about an hour in she turned round and said, no it;s Batman I like Grinning

Anyway, it is a total reboot of the franchise so for the first hour it is Peter Parkers path to the red and blue suit.
After that it is him fighting a lizard man played by Ryhs Ivans, who ended up that way after searching for a way to regrow his arm. He combined lizard DNA into a serum and bobs your auntie instant lizard man. Then things pick up and the action ensues. I won't tell you if Spidy triumphs or not, that might spoil it for you.
Stan Lee has his usual walk on part which is quite amusing.
He has a different girlfriend in this one as I am pretty sure his normal squeeze is not called Gwen. And there is no newspaper editor out to get him however Gwens dad is the police chief out to get him.

The special effects are good, the 3d is not overpowering, I have a feeling that the next one may be better and have a little more action. there is a little segment during the credits that suggests it will continue.
I would give it a7 to 7.5 on the flapometer.
If you enjoy that sort of thing then you will enjoy it.

the mrs did enjoy it even though it wasn't batman and not really her thing.

Can't wait for the new Batman to arrive though .

According to what I read, it's apparently more true to the comics.

it's probably over 40 years since I saw a spiderman comic.
I can't say I was an avid reader but I don't remember his dad being a scientist involved with oscorp.

it's still a good romp though.

Gwen Stacy was Peter Parker's first major love interest, she was killed by the Green Goblin (whether the movies will play out the same I don't know, they usually don't.

I am looking forward to seeing this though I'm really not sure we needed a reboot of a series which only started 10 years ago and hadn't exactly gone downhill as Batman did with Batman and Robin.

REALLY looking forward to the Dark Knight Rises though Smile

I thought was different from the one in the previous series, I have been wracking my brain trying to remember her name.

Me too. not sure if it is out before I come home in 2 weeks but I will get to see it either way, they do a similar thing to orange wednesdays here so two can go for about £4 to a 3d movie less for 2d.
I barely notice the turkish subtitles now.

Would you class the green goblin as an ethnic minority?
