What happens if several million aliens from outer space turn up and want asylum/benefits in the UK? Has the government got a contingency plan for this?

Yes. Local councils will be instructed to include Klingon alongside the 86 other languages which have to be printed on official documents instructing householders what to put in their eight separate rubbish bins, and how to get to the top of the council house queue.
