New gin bar hopes to lift the spirits of Manchester's 'tired' Gay Village.

A quirky new gin bar has opened in Manchester's Gay Village, and hopes to reanimate the area with an eclectic selection of quality drinks.
Mother's Ruin Gin Saloon is the new venture from the Creely family, who used to run the landmark Manchester pub The Old Grapes, which called last orders in August of this year .

"The Gay Village has become a bit tired; it's time for the bars to step up their game around there," says Mother's Ruin co-owner Paul Creely, who worked in The Old Grapes since he was 16.
"I think a lot of the places do the same things - I'm trying to make it a bit of the Northern Quarter meets the Gay Village... A lot of gay people I know have started drinking in the Northern Quarter. "
