A young chimp is cute and cuddly and whilst very strong manageable.
And old chimp is capable of ripping a person apart and these idiots want to declare this one a person who should not be caged. They want him released to a sanctuary, which is a laudable ideal but may result in him being killed or killing other chimps and he will still be locked up.
He is not a person and never will be a person. He is a wild animal and no amount of anthropomorphising will change that.
I would suggest the people campaigning should be the ones locked up.

Now the arguments over whether chimps should be kept in captivity are an entirely different argument.
I can see little reason for private individuals to own them, but you will always get vain self important people who think they know best.
