it might appear a trifle extreme example, but more or less sums up some of the headlines made in recent weeks.

especially over links to russia which they have in banner headlines, whilst hidden away they say although there is no evidence for that at all.

another common way to implant the idea is to say something and then say it comes from an unnamed source.

there is no way to check on an unnamed source.

ergo fake news.


of course it's not just trumps enemies that resort to those tactics, I am sure trump supporting media would not be above such chicanery.

the current furore over new media being excluded is some what fake news, yes it happened, but friendly or compliant media also got invited to private chats with obama and practically all US presidents I am sure.

It's not really as focused as that. 

We see fake news everyday 

The BBC is the biggest culprit of it. 

Fake news is nothing new, it's simply what josef goebbels used. 

Its called propaganda, and its based on his principle that if you tell a big enough lie often enough it will become truth. 

A massive indicator of fake news is that it is comprised almost entirely of slogans or soundbites masquerading as fact, but the individual repeating these "facts" has no idea about the veracity of his facts and he will not be able to pinpoint where he learnt these "facts" from, they will only have a vague it's true because "everyone say so".

Really? I I've never heard or seen any evidence of said racism beyond the initial declaration that he is indeed racist 


Fake news is reliant on the left wing doctrine that the accusation is the evidence

the headline implies britain first members are arrested when in fact it was the fascists from the UAF who were arrested.

But a misleading headline is just that - a misleading headline it's totally different from a story that gas been completely made up
