A mob of 300-500 looters,?? that's not how looting works. 

Looters don't tend to cooperate or organize like that,there may be 500 in a riot/looting fest but it will be small groups or individuals. 

Realistically it will be a small group of around 3 - 8 men, probably known to each other that you will have to deal with.
