Rochford Hospital nurse struck off`

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) heard Oluwole Oyenuga had worked on Rochford Hospital's Maple Ward.

Over two night shifts in 2009, he fell asleep on duty, locked
patients in rooms and refused to change a patient's incontinence pad. The NMC said if Oyenuga continued to work as a nurse, patients would be at risk of harm.

Oyenuga, dismissed by the
hospital in 2010, has been struck off the nursing register after the NMC
described him as "careless, insensitive and selfish in discharging
(his) duties".

Jean Bomford, a support worker on the Maple Ward, told the
panel how she responded to a call light one night and went to the male
part of the ward supervised by Oyenuga.
