Pacific Rim

Another summer blockbuster  full of alien monsters and giant robots.
Basically godzilla with 200 foot robots to fight them.
If you like sci fi stories with loads of bone crunching fights with robots then you will love this.
the plot involves 50 meter tall monsters coming through a portal in the pacific and trying to wipe out human kind. Luckily at the start they only come through 1 at a time with months between them.
After our planes and tanks and ships have difficulty killing the monsters they decide to build giant robots to fight them.
the climax of the film involves the last couple of robots having to try to close the portal.

I wont let on how it ends.

It's an OK movie with meaningless dialogue but it delivers on being action packed.

the ladies, if they wanted to watch have a choice of beefsteak to ogle and Idris elba is the leader of the robot gang.

Drifting is involved, but perhaps not in the sense you mean.

there is a brief clip of an aircraft carrier with a dead monster covering its entire deck.
That is about the extent of battleships in the movie.

In any case dean, it sounds crap. I hate alien/monster films
