no it does not say in the article but I would have thought this might be a directional improvement so try moving the can around for best results.

Re: Boost Your WiFi Signal Using Only a Beer Can
A piece of old cardboard wrapped in foil behind the router/modem sends the signals in the right direction, also.... a metal collander behind your wifi adapter acts like a radar dish. My signal went from 30% to 95% using these methods.... mind you when the woman next door uses her vibrator I pick up BBC radio five????

NOPE...didn't work here.
The SKY router is a bag of nails, compared to BT's..which was also crap!

does it have an external antennae?

Naah...that's the problem, I reckon.
It's not an issue as such....the signal upstairs (the routers in an extension downstairs) is piss poor..hence why I use the mains ethernet.
BUT.... that is no use for the ipads and ipods...

well I think that you need to have the antennae in the centre of the can for it to work. I haven't tried it myself. I spent £2 to buy a better Ariel off ebay. I was hoping that it would give me enough signal to sit on the roof, but it looks like I will need to do plan b and get a t piece and use my multicore to run an ariel up there. The cables in place as I have a 6 way multicore serviceing the satellite Hopefully there will not be too much signal loss.
