Wind Farms Will Wipeout The California Condor

“Condors can travel 200 miles in a day”, said Jesse Grantham, the
California condor coordinator for the Fish & Wildlife Service, “as
the bird forages for food or takes a road trip on a whim to satisfy its
curiosity. The condor has evolved to be attracted to novel objects and
activity as it must constantly scour vast landscapes for its dinner”
(2). Adds Mark Duchamp, president of STEI: “in view of this, it doesn’t
take a rocket scientist to predict they will be attracted to wind
turbines, and die in their arms as do golden eagles. Dead birds under
the turbines will be another fatal attraction.

I couldn't watch it! You'd think in these days of technological know-how they could invent some sort of screen a few yards round these things.

the birds would still fly into the screen and get hung up.
and then predatory birds would come for the scraps and get hung up
I don;t see how they could protect them. Remember some of these are hundreds of feet high. If a bird hits one is stunned and falls a couple of hundred feet it is just as dead or damaged

it could be more than sad for some bird species. the condor is on a knife edge as it is, and many golden eagles have been minced as well.

a windbreak would do it....or some tassles glued to each blade.

They are complete and utter bollocks...and should be dismantled.

However, I quite like wind farms....'though how much it costs to make the wind is beyond me.
