Dean, saw this on an American channel last year,    Military spokesman said, "Very impressive but much too expensive to be incorporated into the Army's weaponry at the moment"

yes firing ¼million M40 rounds might be a bit pricy

they need to develop it into a rail gun then the only cost is a metal slug, no need for a shell casing or gunpowder

I'M sure I saw a program  where bullets were fired by electricity,  no propellant or bullet casing needed.
