I recon It would be easiser to program my CNC router to make the pieces, but it wouldnt be all that simple, unless I had a couple of cutters specially ground but yes I could do it...

Mad yank alert
notice no riving knife (especially as he is using the fence to rip the timber) or guard on that saw
notice the lack of use of a push stick most of the time....

starting with an empty building to make a "mini zoo" animal encounter place for kids (mainly) merekats, skunks snakes lizards raptors etc.....
and up in the woodland I'm clearing a small area to have stone laid as a parking place/turning area for the campervan, was up last weekend felling trees...
"Oh I'm a lumberjcak and I'm OK" etc...
downed 4 30ft spruce trees....they are now all logged up and drying to feed my log burner next (2017) winter.....
got about 1 1/2 acres of hazel coppice to get back into good order too....
so loads of walking stick blanks to cut and dry for a year....and a load of bigger stuff (3" dia" and a bit bigger) to log up for fuel wood too....
should kill the gas bill somewhat.....

That sounds cool.
You will certainly have your work cut out, but what a great idea for children to visit.
Plus a sanctuary for animals.
Hats off to you Victor.

and all the small stuff...branches etc gets chipped and used as surfacing mnaterial for any paths we make in the wood...stops em going muddy and slippery, is eco freindly of course and uses up what would in any other circumstance be difficult to get rid of waste

So a money saver and keeping you in shape.
How much will it cost to maintain the upkeep of the animals?
Will look forward to the pictures when you have this set up

the cost for the animals aint my concern...I'm contracting to build this for a local firm that specialises in this sort of thing...... well firm ...a small family business really...husband and wife team with a couple of paid staff....I will post photos of the process if they agree and of the completed job ....I dont think they will mind....didge wrote:

It certainly keeps me in shape didge...felling isnt the lightest of work even with modern chainsaws etc....A 10 inch dia 30ft tree takes some mauling when its down to get it so you can "sned" it (strip the branches off)
handle it with hooks and ropes/pulleys ....and occaisional help from the landrover winch.......

Sounds a better work out than most gyms offer.
