Young children heard their mother’s horrified screams as she was sexually assaulted in her own home after she answered the door to a stranger. Detectives in Stockport are hunting the attacker after he pounced on the terrified woman in her hallway late in the evening. The mother, in her 30s, was in bed with her young children on Queensway, Heald Green , on Tuesday night when she heard someone repeatedly knocking at her front door at around 10.30pm. When she answered, an unknown man grabbed her by the throat and pushed her to the floor. He sexually assaulted her, only stopping because of her loud screams, which were heard her by her children upstairs. The attacker, who fled the scene after the woman yelled for help, has not been found. Police searched the area on Wednesday night and were continuing their enquiries on Thursday. Detectives, who say they are working round the clock to find the attacker, are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
The woman, who was left traumatised by the horrific ordeal, is being supported by specially-trained officers. Extra police have also been patrolling the area.
The man was described as ASIAN, of slim build, around 6ft tall and around 20 years old. He was wearing a dark green zip-up hooded top and dark blue baggy jeans.
