Would You Have Jumped In?

The young migrant, named as Pateh Sabally, a 22-year-old Gambian, was seen jumping into the water from a pier and swimming to the middle of Venice's Grand Canal. Hundreds of people witnessed the jump and at least three life rings were thrown into the water near the man, but he refused to hold on to them, raising speculation he wanted to commit suicide. No-one jumped in to help him.

That water is filthy.

I read on Twitter last night that whilst he was in the water struggling, many were mocking him and shouting racist comments to him. Disgusting.

Why should someone risk their life by being dragged under by someone suicidal .

Local media said he was given a permit to stay in Italy but travelled to Switzerland in search of work, in order to be closer to family in Mexico. However, he was sent back to Italy by officials.

When he left Syria in his boat if he had turned Left ,he would be in Mexico by now.

No fucking wonder he preferred to stay in the water and drown and felt suicidal IF that was the case.

Some people are just vile bastards that would stand and mock a man who is drowning.

I appreciate that Nicko, about people reluctant to jump in because of the state of the water. That's not what I'm going on about, though what's the fuss of landing on a turd compared to saving a mans life.
