Packaging

Is it me getting feeble in my old age or is packaging getting ridiculously difficult. I had to do a quick lunch yesterday and the only place I could get to was the local co op, where I bought steaks which were in a plastic sleeve, I tried to pull the small flap thing that is supposed to tear open the packaging, no effect, trying to get a knife to penetrate the shrink wrap top was pretty hazadous so I went for the kitchen scissors and cut around the streak, at last I could take the food out of the packaging but cut my finger on the razor sharp plastic tray, bit like a heavy duty paper cut. Now with blood dripping on the floor I have to grap the first aid kit to find some plasters, managed to grap it and hold it with the elbow of the gushing, well not exactly, dripping hand, to open the zip and get out the individually wrapped plasters and find the impossible bit to rip off the covering, well I eventually managed that and cleaned and dried the offending drip ans slapped a plaster on. If only the plasters were as good at staying on as the other items were to open, it would have been a triumph.

Getting the tops off bleach bottle types ain't always easy.

Even the inner pull thingy on plastic milk bottles can be difficult, either they just won't pull off or when they do you get showered in milk. Same with sauce bottles are they welded into place or what. Now that the lids on jars are put on with machines you need a machine to get them off.

With lots of packaging today,   if your fingers don't work properly, your in the shit!!!

the most ridiculous thing I have seen is a baked potato in box. It was an uncooked potato in a box

We bought spuds in a sealed plastic bag with a USE BY DATE OF 7 DAYS, suppose some aerosols will adhere to it.

Talking of spuds, next time you buy some, work out the cost of each single spud, you will be gobsmacked.

well they are about 30p a kilo here

I remember when spuds were 4 old pence per lb,    when there's a SPUD shortage the price goes up, it never comes down though.   The price of Chips goes up as well and the price never comes down !
