The Russian navy will get a total of 26 new ships in 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this week at a reception honoring Moscow’s fleet.

In raw numbers, the Russian navy is adding ships faster than the U.S. and Chinese navies are doing. Putin is preparing for a naval war. But the kind of war Putin is preparing for might not be the same kind of war the United States expects. ........

lets hope they are better than its aircraft carrier which travels with a group of tugs as it breaks down so often.

Navy's, waste of money now. For example, one Aircraft Carrier cost millions, one Torpedo costs thousands,
or one Cruise Missile costs hundreds of thousands. Same result, Carrier Kaput !

that's what the carrier group is for, to stop them getting close enough to be a threat

There are Torpedo's now that can be fired from a mile away, an example of "fire and forget" they home in on the target the same as laser guided Bombs !

which is why a carrier is the best protected asset in the fleet with anti submarine and anti missile/aircraft assets surrounding it. nothing should be able to get within a couple of hundred miles without being spotted.
