Internet to get massive upgrade

The internet gets a huge upgrade on Wednesday.

A new system will allow for trillions of internet addresses to exist on the World Wide Web, compared the four billion or so currently online.

While the move is a sign of just how quickly humanity is embracing the internet, analysts say the shift does have some risks, such as malware and viruses that can do anything from steal information to cripple crucial systems.

Tom McDonough, President and Chief Operating Officer at the cyber security firm, Sourcefire, says the threat of attack online can only increase.

no one should really notice until they shut the IPV4 system down in a few years, and then the problems will start arising
