I played Flamborough on the North coast last year with hubby. He bought eighteen new balls in the club house before proceeding. Hired a buggy, the fun began. He attempted to drive both off the tee and the buggy. By hole fifteen he had lost all his new balls. I won every hole. Fabulous day, including the bacon butty after nine, looking out over the cliffs to the North Sea.

His excuse was as it was a nesting season he didn't wish to disturb all the long tufted grass to look in case a bird was scared off the nest. I ask you ................

I have a number of favourite courses. One of my favourites is Farington ont eh way to wells. they have a drivable par four from an elevated tee about 100 feet up with a lake guarding the left hand side and coming up to the front of the green. I have managed to get the ball down to about 2 yards off the green and not go in the lake. Definitely one of the best looking holes.

I also like the Bristol. a very good but demanding course. I have lost plenty of balls there, but also one day in one bit of rough I found a good twenty balls. None of them mine. lol!

My favourite course though are in america. turkey creek, The ridge and Cherry Island to name three.

at the the ridge and turkey creek you could get a twilight round for $25 or less including a golf cart and at cherry islands around $10 or $15 walking.

looking from the clubhouse back down the 18th hole of pebble beach. couldn't afford to play there at $500 a round plus another $65 for the caddy and $500 for a room for the night.

Difficult to play though at this time of year. One can't grab the driver as one should with mittens on !

This is the perfect time of year to go to the range and hit a few balls and maybe a few lessons from a golf pro as well.

I have slogged my way round a few muddy courses in my time. And even played once when snow was still on the ground in places.
I now prefer to play in the sun though.
