First topic message reminder :

People who talk with their mouths full (when eating food that is) & people who gestulate with their hands when making a point, oh and people who wear dirty trainers and not shoes when in a nice bar or resturant.

However, you can buy fold away seats that fit over the hole, they are like bar stools with a toilet seat on rather than a 'normal' seat. Of course, that rather defeats the original intention but.....

Some of it is. China is a vast country and there are huge variations in what they eat. However, all meals usually include at least one and often 3 or 4 dishes of fresh vegetables. Then in the South we eat fresh fruit several times a day.

Of course the Chinese food you get in the 'west' as about as far removed as you can get from the authentic stuff and still use the name Chinese. In the west they add loads of sugar and don't serve many vegetables (as by the time they are shipped to UK the cost is prohibitive and most westerners won't buy veggies anyway!

They get used to it and its fine. My great grandmother always used them and found the western ones unhygienic.
