No, not really. It's just my little joke, based on pretending to take people like the BBC's resident climate activists David Shukman, Richard Black and Roger Harrabin seriously.
I'll tell you what doesn't amuse me, though. Here I am in Wales, on my holidays, enjoying the semi-sun, and suddenly I get emails from and Tweets from sensible people on my side of the argument saying: "Help! Help! The BBC has gone mad for this story about the NASA satellite showing that 97 per cent of Greenland has melted and apparently it's 'unprecedented'. What do we do?"
Sigh. The right thing to do on occasions like this, I find, is to head straight for Watts Up With That? Unlike, say, the BBC, or the Guardian, or the Independent or most of the rest of the MSM, WUWT's posts are grounded in actual science and real world data.

Evening folks. Trying to get back on topic, all these scare-mongering articles are a comedy, very much like the conspiracy theories. If we believed all these tales we wouldn't dare go out lest the sky fell on us! Or a UFO landed on your lawn.

I like waiting for the day after their predictions to hear their excuses.

Quite comical really, isn't it. Now and again we get these bible bashers predicting the end of the world, they all gather on top of a hill with arms spread to the heavens, waiting to be beamed up, and what happens? Nothing. The next day the pastor says he made a mistake in his calculations.

Ah, but he was a god to the Mayans...the top God, as I recall.

I'm not really an expert on Mayan mythology, but I have been to Chichen Itza and seen the pyramid. I didn't get the opportunity of climbing up it, unfortunately, because I had done something fairly nasty to my back the previous day and was on a walking stick....well, with the temperature at about 100 and the humidity off the scale that was my excuse!

The pyramid and the sacred ball court were absolutely awsome, and in going there I achieved one of the six goals I set myself before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

I've managed four others - the pyramids and tombs of Egypt, the birthplace of Christ (moving whether you are a believer or not) and the Rock of Masada (even more intensely moving, IMO - I actually wept..and me a battle hardened old bugger! The tragic story is well worth a google if you don't know it) and I've photographed wild animals in Africa. The only one I've missed out on is Ayers Rock, and I think it's probably too late now.

I'm just finishing a trilogy of fictional novels by Steve Alten on the Mayans and their legends...a bit way out, but I like a bit of escapism from time to time. I can recommend them, but they are very long and I'm finding the third one somewhat confusing.

Good evening, Edmund. Concerning the Ball Court. I believe the losers of a ball game were sacrificed to the gods! Perhaps we should do that to some of our egotistical players.

As regards Steve Alten, no I haven't read any of his books. At the moment I'm reading Richard Dawkin's book 'The Greatest Show on Earth.' The evidence for evolution. A very comprehensive work but not too heavy where scientific explanations are given. An excellent work if you want to know more about evolution.

He was taken up the steps of the pyramid (for those who haven't seen a pic of it, it is huge, but it is stepped and can be walked up) and the priest was waiting on the top platform where there was a stone statue of the reclining god Chacmool. The poor bugger was laid out on it and his heart was removed by the priest using an obsidian knife, and then displayed to the crowd.

I gather the same sort of thing happens after Millwall home games....
