Man Jailed For Trying To Buy Deadly Ricin .


A man has been jailed for eight years for using the "dark web" to try to buy enough ricin poison to kill 1,400 people.

Mohammed Ali, 31, was caught in an FBI sting operation when an agent posed as a seller.
The pair agreed £320 for 500mg of the substance.
Ali, from Liverpool, was sent harmless powder in five vials hidden in a toy car.
The father of two was later convicted of attempting to possess a chemical weapon, but the judge said there was no evidence he was planning a terror attack.

Imran Khan, 34, from Accrington, already had a conviction for a sexual offence involving a 12-year-old girl in 2008 and was on the sex offenders' register. He was jailed for nine years, but was released in 2013.  

But despite being under supervision, the paedophile was able to re-offend in this sickening incident.

In the sickening scene, Khan bundled the six-year-old girl into the boot of his black Vauxhall Astra (pictured)  

At around 4pm on March 26 this year, the little girl was playing on Nairne Street in Burnley when she was snatched by Khan and bundled into the boot of his black Vauxhall Astra car.

She was driven four miles to Scarth Lane, Hapton where Khan exposed himself and tried to force her to commit a sexual act.

A gang who tried to smuggle £2m heroin in a chapatti oven have been sentenced to a total of 26 years in prison.
The criminals, including Mohammed Aslam Khan, 61, from Ashton-under-Lyne, attempted to import the drug from Islamabad.
Khan and Arbab Akhtar, 29, from Blackburn, both admitted conspiring to import Class A drugs. Kulwinder El Assad, 40, from Tipton in the West Midlands, was found guilty after a four day trial at Leeds Crown Court.
El Assad was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Akhtar and Khan received eight and six year jail terms.
National Crime Agency investigators used phone evidence to prove the links between the conspirators and place them at key locations in the plot.

Father-of-four caught in 'crash-for-cash' scam goes on the run.


A father-of-four who plotted a dangerous "crash-for-cash" scam involving his Ford Mondeo has gone on the run after fleeing from court.
Samoon Baryali, 39 - described as a "prime mover" in a gang attempting to swindle £5.6 million in bogus insurance claims - appeared at Isleworth Crown Court today but vanished just before a judge was about to sentence him.
He was one of six men due to be sentenced over a 2013 plot which saw them set up a deliberate road shunt - in a car rigged with cameras and microphones by an undercover Metropolitan Police officer who infiltrated their group.


Baryali, from Barnet in north London, disappeared moments before Judge Simon David was due to hand down sentences. 
He was jailed for five and a half years in his absence for three counts of conspiracy to defraud and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The court heard Scotland Yard sent the undercover officer to infiltrate the group, posing as a man in need of work, in the summer of 2013.
He became embroiled in a scheme where his Ford Mondeo was deliberately crashed into a third-party vehicle on a London road, using a "decoy" car which braked heavily in front of his, causing it to do the same and send the innocent party - in this case a woman - crashing into the back of him, making her liable for blame.


The court heard that the men's driving was skilled but so dangerous that the undercover officer, who was in the back of the Mondeo, considered pulling the plug on the operation through safety fears for other road users.
Judge Davis, sentencing the six men, said: "This type of offence is prevalent. This was, in my view, a sophisticated, professional and planned criminal enterprise. It was dishonestly run in each of its departments. The evidence demonstrates that it is highly lucrative."


Scotland Yard said previously the gang operated a claims management company called Herald Claims Limited from an office block in north London, where fraudulent or inflated insurance claims would be submitted following crash-for-cash collisions, which had been orchestrated by the gang.
Detectives said the investigation identified that the gang would recruit car owners who would be willing to hand over their cars to be deliberately crashed into - commonly referred to as the stooge vehicle. Police believe the company made claims totalling £5.6 million.

The court heard today that Baryali was the decoy driver and was sentenced for three counts of conspiracy to defraud over his role in the Mondeo crash, a second days later involving another car, and for filing other bogus insurance claims worth £111,000.
His younger brother Mohammed Samoon, 28, also of Barnet, was jailed for three years for conspiracy to defraud over the fake insurance claims.
Jalid Hanadzai, 24, an Afghan former asylum seeker described in court as a "professional" driver, was driving the Mondeo and the Peugeot in the second crash, and was jailed for 24 months in total for two counts of conspiracy to defraud.

Afaq Anjem, from Salford, Greater Manchester, a director of Alpha Legal Associates, which processed the bogus Mondeo crash claim, was jailed for two years for one count of conspiracy to defraud.
Yousaf Haider, 45, of Newham in east London, who acted as a middleman and claim holder, was sentenced to two years in prison suspended for two years for the same offence.
Bangladeshi Mohammad Miah 38, from Hounslow, who acted as a go-between for Baryali and the undercover detective, was sentenced to 21 months suspended for two years for the same offence.

A businessman has been jailed for sexually abusing a schoolgirl after grooming her over the internet.
Using a pseudonym and posing as a teenager, Sukhpal Sidhu, 43, used the dating website hi5.com to find his victim, a girl of 15 from Stockport.
The divorced father-of-two, behind a series of failed corner shops, bombarded her with texts and phone calls and told the girl he loved her.
The youngster was so seduced by him she agreed to sneak out of her home at night to meet Sidhu.
The pair had a series of sexual liaisons in his Ford Mondeo in March, 2013, after he had parked up around the corner from her house, a court heard.
Sidhu also persuaded the girl to text him an indecent picture of herself.
His crimes only began to unravel when the victim’s parents asked their daughter how she had racked up a £200 mobile phone bill in one month.
The teenager admitted what had been going on and the police were called.
Detectives raided one of his corner shops, in Cleveleys, Blackpool, but he wasn’t there.
The next day the police visited his home on Town Street in Pudsey, west Yorkshire, and arrested Sidhu.

A child rapist was jailed for life today after he grabbed a six-year-old off her bike and threw her in his boot just days after finishing a sexual offenders' rehabilitation course.
Imran Khan, 34, was released on licence for abusing a 12-year-old girl when he found the new victim after 'doing laps' of the streets of Burnley 'hoping for the opportunity to arise', a court heard.
After seeing the youngster riding around on her bike, he bundled her into the boot of his car where he kept her for more than half an hour.
He then exposed himself to her and dumped the terrified child in a dustbin.
CCTV footage showed him prowling the area for around 30 minutes until he snatched the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in broad daylight.
The court heard how at the time of the abduction Khan had only just completed a sexual offenders course to 'provide the defendant with the mechanisms of dealing with any sort of urges or intentions he may have had'. 
Khan was today jailed for life at Burnley Crown Court and judge Simon Newell told him: 'It was planned and predatory and was for the satisfaction of your own perverted sexual desires.
'You have now in the last seven years on two occasions taken a girl from the streets of East Lancashire for your own sexual desire.
'One was 12 and one was six. One was raped and one was released. Both were traumatised.
'These sorts of crimes cause concern for those involved in this case but for the wider community.
'It's a parent's hope that their child should be free to play in the streets, walk to school or play in the park. They want to know their children are safe and secure.
'Your crimes fracture that trust and disrupt families' lives. These crimes are a parent's worst nightmare.
'My job first and foremost is to protect the general public. I am to consider whether the situation justifies life in prison and I have come to the conclusion that it is.'

Judge Simon Newell sentenced Khan to serve two life sentences to run concurrently, plus a separate concurrent term of three years for breaching a court order.

He told him he must serve a minimum of six years and seven months behind bars before he is considered for parole but warned him: 'It seems to be that given your age and your propensity to commit these offences, it may be many years before a parole board are willing to consider your case.

A rapist who posed as a Good Samaritan has been jailed for eight years.
Fabrice Kapena’s victim had become separated from her friends during a night out on Deansgate Locks in Manchester city centre and didn’t have enough for a taxi when he offered to help.
Kapena, 23, got into a cab with the young woman - who cannot be named for legal reasons - on the pretext they would split the fare and it would take her home.
But once they were inside the vehicle, he claimed he didn’t have enough money after all and needed to get to his place to get some cash.
The taxi dropped the pair at his address, and she set off to walk home.
MMU IT student Kapena then cajoled her into coming into his flat, by saying: “Where are you going? You have no money. Don’t worry - I will get money and call you a taxi.”
Once inside the property, she was pushed into a bed by Kapena, who held her down, clasped her round the mouth and raped her. The attack only ended after the woman lied that she was HIV positive.

Kapena, of Rome Road, Collyhurst , denied rape following the May 2014 sex attack, but was found guilty by a jury earlier this year.
In a statement, the victim said: “Since the incident I have lost all my confidence. I’m scared to make new friends or let my friends get closer to me. Regardless of what other people say I still think I’m to blame for what happened that night - I feel humiliated and embarrassed and dislike myself intensely. I feel stupid for putting myself in such a vulnerable position.”
The judge had allowed Kapena bail following his conviction to complete his degree course, and he graduated with a 2:2, the court heard.
Martin Sharpe, defending, said: “He has strong qualities. He is self-reliant, motivated and he hasn’t committed any other offences since this. He’s attended court today knowing very well what will happen to him, so he’s not a lost cause by any means.”
Sending him down, Judge Andrew Blake said: “(The victim) blames herself - that’s a very familiar consequence of this sort of behaviour. She shouldn’t blame herself, but she can’t help herself and the net result is that she has lost a lot of her former confidence, something which women who find themselves used by people like you often feel. This is why this is such a serious offence.”

Jailed: Syed Shah, 29, was jailed last week for two years, after pleading guilty to sexually-assaulting a woman he was supposed to be 'healing'
A young mother has claimed a 'holy man' agreed to cast spells to save her marriage, as long as she had sex with him and paid him £5,400.
Syed Shah, 29, allegedly tricked the vulnerable woman in to sleeping with him twice by convincing her that it was necessary to strengthen the spiritual bond between them.
After they had slept together, Shah handed the woman a 'magical potion' to help her marriage.
The woman, who says she is wracked with guilt, has made the claims after Shah was jailed for sexually assaulting another woman who had turned to him for help.
Following last week's trial, held at Birmingham Crown Court, a senior police officer described the Stechford man as 'a very dangerous sexual predator'. 
His victim added: 'He is a big, fat rat.'
The 28-year-old woman, a lecturer, fears that the list of vulnerable women bedded by Shah could run into hundreds. 
But she was unable to explain how she had allegedly been duped by the 'holy man'. 
'I go clubbing,' she said. 'I have a good social life. I have never used a holy man before. I have been gullible.
'The sex was very, very difficult because I was not physically attracted to him. 
'He was recommended by the friend of a friend. I don't know why I did what I did - I could have got help from my local mosque.  
'He took advantage of the situation. He's a fraud. I have been so stupid.' 
She is concerned that possibly even hundreds of other down-trodden and vulnerable women may have been targeted by Shah. 
She continued: 'He showed me pictures of many, many women on his phone.

The grieving parents of a six-year-old boy who died due to negligent care said that 'life is now empty' after the doctor and nurse responsible were convicted of manslaughter.

Doctor Hadiza Bawa-Garba and nurse Isabel Amaro were both found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence for failures that led to the death of Jack Adcock at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The doctor had decided not to resuscitate the boy, who had Down's Syndrome, because she got him confused with a patient she saw earlier in the day who had a 'no not resuscitate' order on them. 

After the verdict, his mother Nicola said: 'Our life now is empty, painful and will never be the same again.'

Forger caught with 'assassin's kit' sent back to jail for breaching court order.


A serial forger once caught with an "assassin's kit" has been sent back to prison, after being found guilty of breaching the terms of a court order imposed to prevent him from counterfeiting in future.
Sentencing Sheriff Oki to more than ten years in jail, the judge said he “was very close to launching a large scale fraud campaign”, and was “a high and escalating risk to society.”
The 36-year-old forger, from Walthamstow, was originally jailed  in 2009 for conspiring to manufacture £5 million in high quality counterfeit  bank notes.

At the time he was also found to be in possession of an “assassins kit” of a loaded pistol, silencer and 50 rounds of ammunition.
Oki was sentenced to 8 years for firearms offences and 21 months for counterfeiting, and was also made subject to a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) designed to prevent him from getting involved in similar crime again.
The order placed restrictions on the number of bank accounts he could have  and put restrictions on his access to printing material, production equipment and computers.

Edgware Road shopkeeper hid huge stash of black market tobacco and cigarettes behind fake wall.



An Edgware Road newsagent stashed 97kg of tobacco and 92,000 black market cigarettes behind a fake wall to sell to customers and dodge about £35,000 in tax.
​Murtaba Alijanabi, 46, was foiled when Westminster City Council and HMRC sent sniffer dogs to his shop, Red Sea.
They found 91,160 cigarettes and nearly 82kg of Shisha tobacco behind the false wall, and returned the next day to find another 1,436 cigarettes and 15kg of tobacco.
Customs bosses said Alijanabi had dodged tax to the tune of £35,000 by selling the items on the black market.
He appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday, where he admitted being knowingly concerned in harbouring tobacco products with intent to defraud HMRC of the duty payable. 



He was handed a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and told to do 200 hours’ unpaid work.
HMRC spokeswoman Jennie Kendall said: “Alijanabi has been caught twice selling illegal tobacco.
“He now has a criminal record and will have to live with the consequences of his illegal activities.
“Tobacco smuggling deprives public finances of over £2 billion a year and has a devastating impact on legitimate traders having to compete with the black market economy.

Jailed: Emmanuel Edet, 61, and Antan Edet, 58, were both sentenced to six years in prison after keeping fellow Nigerian Ofonime Sunday Inuk as a 'houseboy' for 24 years

A gang of robbers who attacked men across east London with a baseball bat during a vicious five day rampage have been jailed.
Yusuf Akram, 18, Usamah Aftab ,18, Hamzah Jawyd 17, Mohamed Ibrahim Ali ,18, and Thamid Zahman 17, carried out eight robberies across Newham and Tower Hamlets in March leaving their victims with horrific injuries.
Yesterday, they were jailed for more than 43 years at Snaresbrook Crown Court while a sixth man from Birmingham will appear at hearing in April to see if he is fit to stand trial.
The court heard the brutal attacks were targeted at lone men at night for personal belongings, often at low value.
In one incident, an Oyster card was snatched.



Jailed: Yusuf Akram was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Each victim was struck in the back of the head with a baseball bat and repeatedly kicked and punched on the ground.
CCTV footage of one attack in Creighton Avenue, East Ham, shows how a 36-year-old man suffered skull and facial fractures as well as bleeding on the brain.
He remained in hospital for four weeks and remains unwell as a result.



Usamah Aftab was jailed for 10 years.


It was one of two robberies that night after another man was knocked unconsciousness less than an hour later.
The victim’s mobile phone, cash card, a quantity of cash and Oyster Card were stolen in the robbery.
He was treated in hospital for skull and neck fractures.



Hamzah Jawyd was sentenced to eight years in prison.


The group was caught through CCTV and DNA when their clothing was matched with victims’ blood.
The first arrest was made on the day after the eighth attack and led to the identity of the remaining five culprits. 
Akram, 18, of Sewell Street, Plaistow, was sentenced to eight years in prison and was fined £1,000 for possessing an offensive weapon at the time of his arrest.




Mohamed Ibrahim Ali was jailed for nine years.




Aftab ,18, of Lucas Avenue, Plaistow, was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment.
Jawyd 17, was jailed for eight years and Ali ,18, of Whyteville House, Forest Gate was sentenced to nine years in prison.
While Zahman 17, was sentenced to eight years and six months’ imprisonment.



Thamid Zahman was jailed for eight years and six months.


Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Piscopo, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said he believed the group would have killed had the attacks continued.
He said: "These were serious acts of violence and a clear example of a gang going on the rampage.
“I honestly believe they would have continued and eventually killed someone if they had not been apprehended.
“One victim pretended to be dead in a desperate attempt to get the gang to cease their unrelenting attack."
The gang were calculated and brutal in their planning, using a car to drop off members of the group to inflict terrifyingly violent robberies before moving on to a new patch.
“I would like to praise the bravery of the witnesses who came forward and helped investigators piece together the actions and movements of these disgracefully dangerous individuals.
"Such was the level of violence that the Judge in this case deferred sentencing to a later date to allow him time to consider the sentence term.
"The custodial sentences handed down today have removed five very dangerous individuals from society."
