I'm afraid that with all those factors (and I enjoy them all) there are times when severe insomnia can become a major issue. I am suffering badly from this at the moment, probably brought on, according to my GP, by extreme stress. One or two of my friends on here will know why, but I'm not going to elaborate further here.

I'm taking zopiclone within strictly imposed medical limits; they are the only things that can give me more than an average of three hours' sleep a night, but there is always the danger of addiction, and this can be very hard to prevent. Awareness and resolve are the only real weapons against it.

Hope all's going to plan M'lud!

That's true - modern civilization - air pollution, poisonous chemicals in food and packaging, too many prescription pills, all causing people to be ill. Since I moved here I haven't had a cold or sore throat, which I used to get a lot in London, the air's fresh (if a bit cold), and I feel as fit as a fiddle. Suppose it depends on how much you value city life.

Positive contribution.

I've always been the opposite, I have always had a really dark room. I get around by feel if I have to get up.
I can rarely sleep in the light.
another good thing is don't go to bed right after you finish a session here. give yourself an hour or two to wind down. I usually try and read for an hour or so after finishing here. It stops all the crap going round in your mind.
