ISIS chief killed in MASSIVE boat explosion as terror group 'close to defeat'
AN ISIS commander has been killed after militia fighters intercepted the sick terror group's planned amphibious attack.
AMPHIBIOUS ASSAULT: An ISIS chief was killed after being ambushed by militia
A squadron of terrorists was ambushed in the Anbar Province of Iraq, near the Syrian border.
Images from the battleground show the aftermath of a boat explosion, with the vessel engulfed in flames.
Militia leader Abdullah al-Jaghifi confirmed the coordinated attack on the jihadis.
He said: "Al Hashd al-Shaabi forces set up an ambush for members of the Islamic State group, who were using boats to cross the river toward Haditha Dam, west of Anbar.
"We managed to kill six ISIS members including the elite leader Khamis al-Rawi."
He added that troops had intercepted a huge arsenal of weapons from the terror group and burnt two of their boats.
Jaghifi believed the terrorists were planning to attack military troops at the strategically important Haditha Dam on the Euphrates.
The beleaguered terror group is on its last legs in Iraq, with coalition forces surrounding their last base in every direction.
Infamous ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi even appeared on their media channels to concede defeat.
The under-fire war criminal told terrorists to either flee Iraq or strap on a suicide vest.
US security officials in Iraq have predicted the group's demise in the next 30 days.
