(Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc has bought the global television rights to “The Lord of the Rings,” the company said on Monday, in what may be its biggest and most expensive move yet to draw viewers to its streaming and shopping club Prime.........

I don't know what it will be about if they are going to set it between the hobbit and lord of the rings and have hobbits as central characters. That time was rather a dull one for the hobbits with nothing special happening at all.
A better idea would have been setting it in the time of the rise of Sauron and how the rings of power came into existence. that would be have been an action packed series involved all the races, minus the hobbits of course.
