she was asked a question and she answered honestly, unusual for most mp's. she didn't say science should or could produce a cure, she said it may one day. some gay people may may jump at the chance to be straight, many probably wouldn't, but  should those that might want to be denied.

The implication of her comments is that there are gay people who are unhappy because of their sexuality and would be happier if they were straight
