there does seem to be some confusion on this arrest and it could indicate a wider conspiracy, or the police have got the wrong people, although I haven't read of any new incursions since this arrest

I am not sure how this can be blamed on grayling. It's already illegal to fly drones within a mile of airports. Now the police are saying there may not have been any drones at all.

Ps I can understand why the police didnt want to use a Sniper Rifle to take it down (if they missed the stray bullet could still kill)
But why not a shotgun?

because the Uk runs reactively not proactively.

nothing happens until after the event even though the authorities know long before the event that the event is likely to take place.

can you imagine the tories saying "we want to spend X amount of millions installing anti drone tech"??? labour would immediately attack them for scaremongering and wasting tax payers money, just because

because a shotgun is good for a couple of hundred feet if you are lucky, and gatwick covers an enormous area and you would need to get the shotgun to the area before the drone buzzed off. you would need dozens of people if not hundreds to cover the whole place.

good question and one the gov will need to answer. It is run by the army and they cant act unless called in.
