Yep - evidently the chicken breasts are pumped up with water to double them in size, but they have to be bound by a protein powder to stop them turning to mush. New techniques have shown that this powder contains beef and pork, and they traced the suppliers to Halal firms.

Re: British Halal Chicken is actually pork!
While this is very very serious to muslims as it would have huge religious ramifications, I cannot help thinking how unimportant it was to bother to tell non muslims when their meat was hal lal and as far as I know there is still no legal reason to inform people wether the meat is hal lal or not on the label.
I suppose what goes around comes around.

I think that the next move will be from having halal aisles in the supermarkets, they will simply build halal only supermarkets for muslims who will have their own suppliers to ensure that this sort of thing doesn't happen.

Muslims dont buy from normal supermarkeys though.
They all get it from their local Halaal butchers.

SM...what about the stuff that the likes of KFC and Mcs use?
Much of the UK chicken (and all of the UK lamb) is Halaal.
the likes of Asda etc do sell such meat, which is clearly marked as Halaal....I can only assume that those who buy this as a choice would be muslim by religion.
Unless it is slaughtered, gutted and packed in front of one's eyes, no one can be entirely sure just what is the true state of the meat that they are consuming..... whether it is prepared in the home or outside.

If you watch the video through you'll see there are halal butchers' suppliers, not only supermarkets.

Halal Food in the UK
The Market
It is widely reported that demand for Halal products is on the increase amongst Britain's
estimated 3 million* Muslims, 95% of which claim to be Halal consumers. The Halal Food
Authority estimates that the UK market for Halal food grew 30% in 2006, even though the
Muslim population grew just 3%. (* Mintel)
Across Europe, where the Muslim population has grown by more than 140% in the last
decade, there is a similar picture with 2
nd and 3rd generation European Muslims seeking out
convenience and looking for products such as Halal pizzas, lasagne and hot dogs.
Estimates vary, but the organisers of London’s World Food Market exhibition estimate the UK
Halal market to be worth £2.8bn.
Why Companies Seek Halal Certification
An increasing number of British food and drink companies are seeking Halal certification to
widen market opportunities. For many, the catalyst is a specific export customer (often from
the Middle East or Southeast Asia), the airline catering market or an opportunity to supply
public sector catering operations such as schools, colleges and hospitals.
Key Manufacturers
Apart from meat, the biggest growth in Halal products has been in baby food and
confectionery. Key Halal food producers include:

Zack - one of the suppliers you mention in your list, Euro Fast Foods or something, is one that's mentioned in the video as supplying Indian restaurants, and is using the pork protein powder.

That was kind of the point of the list. And to show the reasons why.
Don't worry. Most Muslims can source their meat and don't rely on supermarkets or large chains.

Re: British Halal Chicken is actually pork!
I would be less worried about halal and more worried that there is a legal limit on how much faeces can be in food.
