Arctic sea ice shrinks to record low
Scientists have this week recorded sea ice shrinking to its lowest extent ever. This is yet another strong signal of long term global warming, confounding climate sceptics who earlier this year claimed that “arctic sea ice is recovering”. The satellite records span over 30 years and show the lowest six ice extents occurring in the last six years (2007-2012). Sea Ice levels could shrink even further as this year’s record faces a further two to three weeks of melting. The retreating ice marks a rise in temperature that entails consequences such as flooding, out-of-season hurricanes and food crises................

Just throw a few freezers into the ocean and turn them on.

Seems odd to me that with this global warming, my particular bit of the planet has been, except for a few notable days, in the last few years - bl***y cold.

Do you ever give a thought that perhaps Green Party. Org might have a vested interest in convincing the gullible that sea ice is shrinking?
Did you know that the Romans used to grow grapes in the North of England? Tree rings prove that your climate was warmer at many times in history than it is now. Arctic ice samples also show how the earth has cooled and warmed with and without human contributions. It is a natural occurrence.

LOL, it makes me angry, though, Wyatt. These are the same people who whine and complain about the rich and yet have no complaint about the Al Gore-types who are making billions from this scam while costing the average person much more money trying to conform to the new "green" standard. Al Gore lives in a mansion and uses more electricity cooling the place than some small towns in his state.
How do they reconcile these things in their own heads and accept them?

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm? I only asked because you could have been posting from the US as you seem to start posting later in the day.
Anyway, if the weather in the UK's getting colder this would support global warming - as the ice melts it pushes the Gulf Stream further south, which means the UK would be north of it and it's climate more similar to Canada, i.e. much colder. I think - I'm no expert.

Absolutely correct Mystic, its natural phases, the earth wobbles on its orbit and the pole's orbit isn't fixed, and as the sun is the main driver of the weather we'd have to work very hard to make great differences. What about all the inundated lands and cities around the world, the seas must have been lower at some times. The Thames froze over in Tudor times well enough to have fairs and markets on it for weeks on end, (although the Thames was wider and therefore slower at the time and froze more easily than it would now). Although I will say our habit of de -foresting everywhere not just the Amazon, is not a good idea.

Sarcasm I hope not - none intended, just thought I may sound like the
typical Brit on about the weather even though I haven't got into my
stride yet.

I wonder if we could make better use of wind farms and direct them at the Gulf Stream and push it back some? Doesn't Canada have warm summers though?

Add in all the conferences these sychophants go to, flying many 1,000s of miles on planes, makes you realise they simply cannot believe a word they pontificate themselves

Oh Durham, no one is as big a hypocrite than Al Gore.
Al Gore’s SUV Left Running While He Lectures About Global Warming
Posted on July 24, 2008 by yojoe
For a man not unaccustomed to hypocrisy, given the carbon footprint of this home, this should not be surprising. But, one would think that he could at least turn off the AC.
According to National Post, while Al Gore lectured the unwashed masses about abandoning fossil fuels, his

two Lincoln Town Cars and a full-sized SUV that sat idling with the air conditioners blasting while the Gore party was inside.

It was 34 C in Washington. Al Gore can’t be expected to get into an overheated vehicle after he’s worked up a sweat telling others how to save the planet.

After all, he did need a cool SUV to take him to his private jet.

Re: Arctic sea ice shrinks to record low
As any student of ancient history will tell you, there has always been climate change. It's cyclical; it has happened in the past and it will continue to happen in the future.
I'm more than a tad sceptical about "man made climate change" however. There were no cars, planes, power generation or belching factory chimneys eons ago, yet the earth experienced regular periods when it heated up and cooled off. It takes some stretch of the imagination to accept that it was all caused entirely by farting dinosaurs.
The big difference today is politics...opportunities for ever more punitive taxation justified by "green" issues, together with a lot of powerful commercial and industrial organisations exploiting so-called "green" technologies and, of course, the scaremongering, self-appointed "green" zealots who would love nothing better than to see us all following their chosen lifestyle of munching lentils, living in yurts and hugging trees.

For those with an open mind, James Dellingpole has written some excellent articles about this subject - and how we are all being ripped off by the green industries and governments
I see no problem in pursuing later active energy sources, preserving precious metals and minerals and recycling..........but I have HUGE issues with them taking out of my pocket to fund their egos

"The desire to save humanity is always a false front for the urge to rule it."
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed - and hence clamorous to be led to safety - by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."
