And regardless of that; it still makes far more sense in every way to learn Chinese over French or German.
In time I believe people will have no choice here and will need to speak another language to further their careers.

That is the problem is it not, that people disagree and want to get by on being lazy by not learning another language, they expect others to speak English

Wow Puriel, interesting thoughts you have regarding the English language.

Do you think that English language in the UK should be made the second language of all UK citizens?

We used to have a poster on here called Sexy Mama who claimed to be an immigration lawyer. However, her command of the English language was poor which basically blew her story out of the water. But that's besides the point,do you feel that foreigners living the UK should learn to speak English to an acceptable standard?

No, why should it be?
We are talking about a second language for British people to learn.

You don't need to have a good command of the English language to be a lawyer, they give out degrees willy nilly these days.

As to your other point most foreigners do have a very good level of English to an acceptable standard, better than some English people, of which the later I would be more concerned about!

Maybe your degree is a willy willy one but I can assure you a legal degree has to be worked for, and a good understanding of erudition if not Latin, Greek and French  the core languages of the world

It is your choice to believe I am wrong.
I do believe that all should and I believe many do, not all of them.
So lets reverse this question, we know countless Brits work abroad, do you think many even speak a second language?

Well that's what you were clearly insinuating in your previous posts.

But I'll put that mistake down to you being new on the site & inexperienced in life. And maybe you ought to think a bit more about what you are saying.
