Jailed: Derek Onodjamue subjected his victim to a terrifying ordeal

A "manipulative" rapist who held a teenage girl captive and subjected her to horrifying abuse has been jailed.
Derek Onodjamue, 27, locked his victim inside a room in a flat in New Cross after she arranged to meet him nearby because she owed him money.
The attacker, known to the victim only as 'Dan', then repeatedly assaulted her over the course of several hours, forcing her to perform oral sex on her.
Onodjamue also placed the victim's hand inside a kettle while it was turned on and whipped her with an electrical cord during the ordeal in September last year.
When she was released after being subjected to several hours of sick abuse, his victim reported him to the police and he was arrested several weeks later.
Onadjamue, of Chatham Street, Elephant and Castle, was sentenced to 12 years in jail at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday after being found guilty of rape, false imprisonment and ABH.
Detective Constable Samantha Searle, of the Met's sexual offences, child abuse and exploitation unit, said: "Onodjamue manipulated his victim, forcing her into a situation where she could not escape and subjecting her to hours of torture and humiliation.
"I hope this sentence can afford the victim and her family some degree of closure."
Police also warned that Onodjamue may have targeted other victims, and urged anyone with further information to contact them on 020 8721 4653.

Jailed: Mojtaba Changi and Saeed Fatemi targeted their victim because of her vulnerability, police said.
Two men who raped a vulnerable Polish tourist in a London park just hours after she had arrived in the UK have each been jailed for 14 years.
Mojtaba Changi, 33, of Lea Bridge Road, Walthamstow, and Saeed Fatemi, 20, of Blackthorn Court, Hall Road, Leyton, were sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Thursday.
They targeted their 18-year-old victim, who has been left so traumatised she hasn't told her family, after she became separated from friends on a night out.
Police said she bumped into Fatemi in Kingston town centre as she searched for them. He offered to help, walking around with her for 45 minutes while his accomplice Changi followed quietly behind.
Fatemi then led his victim into Canbury Gardens, where the pair pinned her down and raped her.
after Paris away trip
After the traumatising ordeal, the victim was led from the park and told to run, which she did before raising the alarm to a taxi driver at Kingston Bridge.
Detectives tracked down Fatemi and Changi, whose DNA was found on the victim's clothing.
As officers were arresting Fatemi at his home on September 17, four days after the attack, Changi coincidentally showed up at the house and was also detained.
Detective Constable Ben Hawkins, from Scotland Yard's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: "The evidence points strongly to this being a pre-meditated and aggressive assault on a young woman who had only arrived in the UK eight hours previously.
"She had come on a 10-day holiday to see friends and because of the events of that night, ended up spending most of her holiday with the police and medical services.
"She was deliberately targeted by Changi and Fatemi owing to her vulnerability at the time.
"So traumatised and confused by the assault is she, that even now she has not felt able to tell her parents and family back in Poland.
"She has shown remarkable bravery in flying back to the UK and giving evidence live in court and I am delighted that the trust she put in the Metropolitan Police to reach a successful conclusion for her has been justified."

A shop assistant told today of the terrifying moment he thought he was going to die as he was pistol-whipped by a teenage robber.
The victim was grabbed in a head-lock by the assailant and beaten over the head with an imitation handgun at a south London convenience store.
He was struck so hard that the weapon smashed into pieces.
Today Nazim McClarren, also known as ‘Naz’, was starting a four year jail sentence following the assault on the 30-year-old shop worker in April last year.
CCTV footage shows the 18-year-old repeatedly hitting the shop assistant with the imitation gun inside Brook’s convenience store in Catford.
The shop assistant, who does not want to be named, told the Standard: “I thought I was going to die, he just kept hitting me. It was just a blur. I have recovered but he was so vicious and I am relieved he has been sent to jail.”
Jailed: Nazim McClarren, 18 Shop owner Kanthi Mahalin said: “This was a brutal attack on my assistant and he has been traumatised. It can only be good that this man is now off the streets. My assistant and a customer in the shop had thought it was a real gun - they thought their lives were being threatened, it was just terrible.”
McClarren, of Catford, was jailed at Woolwich Crown Court yesterday after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

Ferren Williams, 26, from Dudley
A vicious mugger who repeatedly battered an elderly woman’s head on the ground in Birmingham has been jailed for seven years.
Sixty-four year-old Ann Wilson, who thought she was going to die, suffered a fracture to her skull and perforated ear drum as a result of her ordeal.
Ferren Williams, 26, of Grange Road, Dudley, who had previously admitted a charge of robbery, pounced as the pensioner was out shopping with her great-nephew, who was in a pushchair.
He dragged her away from the two-year-old tot, then snatched necklaces given to her by her late husband from her throat.
Recorder Mark Hill said it was amongst the most serious cases of street robbery.
He told Williams: “You deliberately targeted an elderly woman who was out shopping and who had custody of her great-nephew, barely two years old.
“This was a despicable attack. You took hold of the necklaces around her neck and you also tried to remove this woman’s rings.
“The necklaces you succeeded in taking were of sentimental value, having been gifts made to the victim from her late husband.”
The judge said he had read a statement from Mrs Wilson, adding: “What is immediately clear is that this woman’s life was turned upside down by your appalling conduct on that day in question.”
He said that Williams had a previous robbery conviction which had “disturbing similar features.”
Tom Kenning, prosecuting at Birmingham Crown Court, said that on June 17, 2013, Mrs Wilson had been to Sainsburys in Druids Heath before going down a side road with her great-nephew in the pushchair.
Williams came up to her and grabbed her arm so tight “she thought it was going to break.”
The defendant was mumbling something, and then pulled her away from the pushchair and grabbed hold of her necklaces “with such force she thought she was going to be strangled.
“He was yanking them, pulling them and twisting them,” said Mr Kenning.
Mrs Wilson tried to fight back but the next thing she remembered was being on the floor.
“He was bending over her. She was terrified,” added Mr Kenning.
“Williams then grabbed her hair and was repeatedly banging her head on the road.
“He did it, she remembers, at least three times.
“The pain was immense and she honestly then thought she was going to die.”
Mr Kenning said the defendant did eventually manage to wrench the necklaces away and that others, who had heard the woman’s screams, came to help her.
He said because of what had happened Mrs Williams, who spent three days in hospital, had felt scared to go out and felt a prisoner in her own home.
Theresa Hunt, defending, said Williams had had limited opportunities in life and had owed a drug debt.

Taxi driver Mohammed Iqbal.
A University of Birmingham student has told of her horror after a taxi driver assaulted her – then demanded £50 to take her home.
Lily Wright bravely waived her right to anonymity to reveal her ordeal at the hands of Mohammed Iqbal.
He sexually assaulted the 22-year-old after dropping off her friend and driving her to an isolated spot.
The sick predator then drove the student home – and ordered her pay him £50 for the journey.
“I was paralysed with fear,” she said.
“It was disgusting and I was convinced he was going to kill me.”
“After what he’d done to me, I couldn’t believe he had the nerve to charge me.
“I knew it should only cost around £20 and I didn’t have the money but I was desperate to get home.
“So I told him I did.
“As soon as I saw my house I didn’t wait for him to stop, I opened the car door and fled.
“I was running for my life.”
The attack happened at the end of a night out in March 2012 after Lily and her friend flagged down Iqbal’s taxi.
She later broke down and revealed what had happened to her sister Elizabeth, 18.
The assault was reported to the police, and within seven days Iqbal had been arrested after being traced using CCTV.
Officers also retrieved Lily’s lost phone from his car.
“It was so humiliating,” added Lily.
“The whole process took nearly ten hours.
“I was so traumatised I almost backed out.
“After the tests I went home.
“I had a bath, desperate to scrub away the previous night.
“But I knew I had to get this driver off the road or another girl would be his next victim.”
Iqbal was jailed for five-and-a-half years at Guildford Crown Court in October 2012 after being found guilty of two sex attacks – one against Lily and another woman.
Lily added: ‘I couldn’t believe he was a serial offender and wondered how many other girls he planned on attacking.
“I believe women should trust taxi drivers, and take a taxi rather than walking home alone at night.
“But they should book a registered taxi rather than waving one down in the street.
“You’re putting your safety in their hands.
“And I learnt my lesson the hard way.”

A 40-year-old man who raped a woman in a flower hut near Southfields Station while others held her down has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Mustafa Anacha, of Augusta Road in Wimbledon, was found guilty today of raping a 32-year-old woman in Replingham Road in the early hours of June 14 last year.
The Algerian national, who has lived in the UK for 12 years working in a fish and chip shop and different cafes, was one of three men who assaulted her after she returned from a night out.
She began speaking to them because they were with her friend.
After her friend left, Anacha and the two remaining men molested her on a bench before restraining her in the flower hut where Anacha raped her, the court heard.
Police are still trying to trace the two other men in the attack which took place between 4am and 5am.
Anacha was arrested on August 29 and taken into custody.
Appearing at Kingston Crown Court this afternoon, he was found guilty by a unanimous jury of rape and assault.
Delivering the sentence, Judge Peter Lodder QC, said: "The starting point for an offence of this nature is eight years but...this was aggravated, it was a group attack and you ejaculated.
"I accept that this may be out of character but in my mind that does little to mitigate this sentence of 10 years."

A man who left a woman for dead after stabbing her 15 times in a frenzied attack has been jailed for 14 years.
Nazakat Ali, 30, of Rochdale, stabbed his victim repeatedly in front of his mum as she desperately tried to restrain him.
In one of the stabbings he plunged the knife right through the woman’s hand, breaking her finger.
And he severed the woman’s aortic artery, the main blood supply to the heart before leaving her lying in a pool of her own blood.
The first police officer on the scene thought she was dead until they checked her pulse that they realised she had survived the brutal assault.
Manchester Crown Court heard that Ali was at his house on East Street in Wardleworth in September last year when they started arguing.
Ali’s mother walked into the living room and saw that he was holding a knife.
She described both how she and the victim tried to wrestle it from him before he launched the horrific assault.
However they were unsuccessful and he repeatedly stabbed her in the head, neck, abdomen and upper body as his mother screamed for help.
The victim was rushed to hospital, where she underwent major surgery and was in intensive care for several weeks.
Ali pleaded guilty to attempted murder.
Detective Sergeant Louise Ashurst said: “This is one of the most brutal and horrific attacks I have experienced as a detective.
“The injuries she suffered were so severe that the first officer on the scene thought she was dead, her defensive injuries showed that he stabbed her with such force that the knife went right through her hand, breaking her forefinger.
“It was only after the officer felt for her pulse, that he realised she was still alive and even then it was touch and go, with the victim undergoing life-threatening surgery and several harrowing weeks in intensive care.
“But the victim was strong and brave, and I hope this sentence goes some way to helping her overcome what has happened.”

Majid Abedi-Kuraem has been jailed for six years
A man who subjected a young woman to a ‘brutal’ and ‘horrific’ sexual assault has today been caged for six years.
Majid Abedi-Kuraem, 29, of no fixed address, grabbed the victim from behind when she was walking home from a night out behind the Midland Hotel in Manchester city centre on June 28 last year.
He then dragged her to the steps near Northern Tower where he subjected her to a brutal sexual assault.
The victim, aged in her 20s, tried to scream for help but Abedi-Kuraem put his hand over her mouth and continued his horrific attack.
He was then seen on CCTV leaving the scene.
The Iranian national was arrested trying to flee to Romania by Kent Police on July 1 after an acquaintance saw his image on the Greater Manchester Police Facebook page and contacted officers.
Abedi-Kuraem, who was found guilty of sexual assault at an earlier hearing, will be deported to Iran at the end of his sentence.
Detective Constable Victoria Wade of GMP’s Serious Sexual Offences Unit said: “Abedi-Kuraem is a cold and calculated predator who saw a vulnerable woman on her own and attacked her.
“The victim has been through a horrendous ordeal and although the sentence passed today won’t erase what happened, I hope it will give this poor young woman some closure.
“I would also like to commend the man who came forward after recognising the image of Abedi-Kuraem that was put out with the appeal and say thank you to Kent Police for their assistance in arresting this man.”

Three fraudsters who used the names of more than 200 dead children to launder profits from an attempted £1m VAT fraud have been jailed for more than 16 years.
Saheed Oyeneye, 35, Rasaq Omotunde, 38, and Oluwakemi Adesaogun, 38, all from south east London, set up hundreds of bogus online HMRC accounts to ‘get rich quick’ off the public purse.
The Nigerian-born adopted false identities of hundreds of unsuspecting victims, mirroring the tactic employed by the assassin in The Day of the Jackal, as part of his plot to shoot French president Charles de Gaulle.

Rasaq Omotunde, 38 (left) and Saheed Oyeneye, 35, (right), both from south east London, were part of a fraud gang who used the names of more than 200 children to launder profits from an attempted VAT fraud
In a scenario similar to that of the Frederick Forsyth novel, the trio men stole the identities of more than 200 dead British babies, before using their names to bombard the government with tax repayment applications.
They also adopted the identities of sports personalities, including cricketers and rugby union stars, by scouring the internet for their personal details and cobbling together a fake profile.
The three men also targeted thousands of members of the public as they attempted to swindle £1m, Southwark Crown Court was told.

ShareIn total, the gang managed to pocket around £250,000, which was banked across hundreds of accounts which had been set up under false names.
But the trio were rumbled early on by HMRC and did not pay out more than three-quarters of the money.
When their homes were searched, investigators discovered the personal details of more than 200 dead children were stored on computers, the court heard.

Oluwakemi Adesaogun, 38, from Woolwich, was the third member of the group
Oyeneye, from Hither Green, Omotunde, from Sydenham and Adesaogun, from Woolwich, all pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud.
Today, Judge Stephen Robbins jailed Oyeneye for five and a half years, Omotunde for six years and Adesaogun for five years.
After the sentencing, Christopher Gill, Assistant Director, Criminal Investigation, HMRC, said: ‘This trio thought they were running a high-tech and sophisticated fraud using a series of addresses and internet cafes to set up accounts using stolen data.
‘They bombarded the system with applications for tax repayments from these fake accounts, in the hope of getting rich quick.
‘These fraudsters thought the anonymity of the internet would protect them.'
He added: 'This case demonstrates that we can and will track down and prosecute those who attack our online systems.
‘This was nothing but a common repayment fraud attempt which our systems quickly identified as bogus. HMRC shuts down the vast majority of bogus repayment applications.’
The trio will face confiscation proceedings at a later date but most of the money has already vanished.
The book's protagonist - the Jackal - trawls three village graveyards looking for the headstone of a baby boy who, had he not died, would have been about the same age as the assassin.
Taking the details of the late Alexander James Quentin Duggan to the Central Registry of Births, Marriages and Deaths, the Jackal buys a copy of the deceased's birth certificate - all the proof he needs to successfully apply for a passport.

Four drug dealers have been found guilty of ambushing and stabbing to death two rivals to steal their client list.
Aaron Carriere, 21, and Josiah Manful, 20, were lured to a quiet residential road in Leytonstone, east London, where they were "boxed in" by four cars.
They were then stabbed 24 times in less than a minute.
Although there were drugs and cash in the car, only one item was stolen - a phone containing their drug dealing "client list".
Gang members Devonte Campbell, Casey Jones, Alex Bernard and Omar Hassan were all found guilty of two counts of murder and will be sentenced later.
The victims are Aaron Carriere and Josiah Manful
Opening the murder trial last year, prosecutor Lisa Wilding QC said the victims were subjected to a "swift, frenzied, utterly brutal attack" in their black Ford Fiesta on Montague Road.
Despite suffering 11 wounds, Mr Manful managed to get out of the driver's seat to call for help before collapsing.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene following the attack on 1 March last year.
Each of the defendants played their part in the murders, with some wielding knives, some lending support through physical intimidation and others acting as getaway drivers.
Afterwards, some of the defendants tried to evade capture by dumping cars and fleeing the country.

Not enough room for the blacks and foreigners?
I really do think a story like this deserves it's own thread as well Al - it is a double murder on the streets of England's capital after all.

Jailed: Ovidiu-Constantin Plamada and Mariana Sandra (Pictures: Metropolitan Police)
Ovidiu-Constantin Plamada, 31, and Mariana Sandra, 43, were each sentenced to six years in prison for a string of raids at homes in the capital.
The "profilic" burglars, Both Romanian nationals, stole expensive jewellery, make-up and other household items worth about £400,000 from properties in London between May and November last year, police said.
The more obscure items they stole included a dressing gown, a duvet set and a tin of mackerel.
The raids had a "devastating effect" on the victims, a spokesman for Scotland Yard said, adding that homes in Kent and Essex were also targeted.
The pair, both of High Road, Ilford, were jailed at Basildon Crown Court yesterday after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary in relation to 179 homes.
Many of the burglary victims have been reunited with their belongings since the police investigation, the Met said.
Detective Sergeant Brett Hagen, who led the investigation for the Metropolitan Police, said: "Plamada and Sandra were a prolific burgling duo who committed a vast number of residential burglaries over a relatively short period of time.
"They were clearly committing burglary for financial gain, but also stole some strange items such as a tin of mackerel, women's make-up and a duvet set, suggesting they were actually using victim's personal property to furnish their home and their lifestyles."
He continued: "The overwhelming evidence gathered by these officers has resulted in society being afforded a well earned rest from the activities of two habitual thieves. In addition, as a result of this investigation a large number of victims have been reunited with their property."

A dial-a-drug gang which took more than 1,000 orders a day from desperate customers on an advertised crime hotline has been jailed for 33 years collectively.
At the height of its success the gang, headed by 30-year-old Sahil Patel, was delivering Class A drugs to hundreds of people across east London every day.

Married children's doctor jailed after he was unmasked as a predatory paedophile

A married children’s doctor has been jailed for seven years after being unmasked as a predatory paedophile with an ‘intense’ sexual obsession with young boys.
Paediatric registrar Raza Laskar, who has worked as a locum at Stepping Hill, MRI, North Manchester General and the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan, coaxed troubled boys into performing for sex acts after searching the web for an underage ‘sex slave’.
The 32-year-old lured a 15-year-old boy to a hotel for sex and secretly filmed him after grooming him online for months, even helping him with his science homework and showing him his wedding video, Manchester Crown Court heard.
In total a dozen vulnerable victims - as young as 12 - were persuaded to perform sex acts on webcam and covertly recorded by married Laskar, of Ormond Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, who claims he was suffering from stress and depression.
There is no suggestion he abused any patients, but the court heard the depraved doctor boasted of his profession online to youngsters in order to gain their trust.
He even appeared in his medic’s scrubs in indecent images he swapped.
The victims - from the UK, US and Australia- were lured from social networking sites after Laskar posted vile messages stating he was looking for a sex slave.
“Looking for lads who like being told what to do or who want to try out as my slave - the younger the better. (no lower age limits)”, Laskar posted in one message.
A string of youngsters responded to the postings between 2013 and 2014, the court heard, with one boy, just 13, telling him ‘I can be your slave’.
Laskar told the boy he had ‘six regular slaves’, prosecutor Neil Fryman told court, and offered to ‘give him a medical’.
In just three months, another youngster, aged 13, swapped over 3500 WhatsApp messages with him.
The court heard the boys subjected themselves to a string of ‘indignities’ to please twisted Laskar, with one boy seen performing a sex act with the word’s ‘Raz’s Slave’ scrawled on his body.
That boy, 13, was provided with indecent images of ‘younger children’ as ‘currency’ by Laskar, Mr Fryman said.
Apart from the images he collected of the victim, Laskar had a vast collection of nearly 60,000 extreme pornographic and child sex abuse images he had downloaded.
After downloading a file sharing programme which made his content available to others - he says by mistake - he attracted the attention of the National Crime Agency, leading to a raid on his home in May 2014.
By that time he was glad to be caught, his lawyer said, because his behaviour was spiralling out of control. He admitted 31 sex offences including voyeurism, sexual activity with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, making indecent images, distributing indecent images, possessing indecent images, and inciting child pornography.
Suzanne Goddard QC, defending, said: “Clearly these offences have had a catastrophic effect on this defendant’s career, which has now come to an end. He will never work as a doctor again. He has been suspended by the General Medical Council, asked to be taken off the register, and will undoubtedly be struck off. It’s clear that he felt that working as a doctor was the only thing he did of any use - not being able to go back to that he sees as a lifelong punishment, quite regardless of the inevitable long custodial sentence.
“His offending has had a devastating effect on his family. He is deeply ashamed and disgusted by what he has done and feels deeply sorry for the teenagers he has involved in this offence.”
Miss Goddard went on to say the teenagers were ‘willing’, that Laskar had applied no pressure, but accepted that the teenagers being ‘sexually curious’ made them vulnerable.
Sentencing, Mr Justice Peter Openshaw told him: “Many were unsure about their sexuality and some were obviously troubled - even if they were aware in the abstract of the dangers posed by communicating with strangers on the internet, none, it seems, realised that applied to them.
“Each, it seems to me, was in the circumstances acutely vulnerable and the defendant exploited them.
“Many of these boys spent long hours alone in their rooms on the internet, the defendant gained their trust by posing as someone prepared to listen to them.”
Shamefaced Laskar, who hung his head throughout the hearing as his family listened from the public gallery, must serve an extended licence period for public protection, which places him at risk of being recalled to prison for years after his release.

Jailed for life: Malachi Lindo, 27
A former law student who had sat alongside an Old Bailey judge was today jailed for life for battering to death a complete stranger with a house brick.
Within 12 months of dropping out of his Queen Mary’s College course, Malachi Lindo had taken up drug dealing.
Gripped by a drug-induced psychosis he left Philip Steels’ face beyond recognition and his victim died in the streets in North London.
Jailing Lindo for a minimum of 14 years, Judge Paul Worsley told him: “You were the first member of your family (to attend university) and this time last year you were work shadowing a judge at the Old Bailey, such was the promise it was felt you possessed.
“But you dropped out of college and set up as a drug dealer and supported the despair these drugs bring onto the streets. You took some of those drugs yourself and suffered an abnormality of mental function.
“But a life was taken and it was entirely your responsibility. You attacked a complete stranger in the street and literally smashed his head in. It was an unprovoked and tragic killing.”

Jailed: Ashley Mitton was locked up for 15 years

A university football team captain has been jailed for 15 years after he raped two sex workers and robbed a third.
Middlesex University student Ashley Mitton, 24, lured the women into his car before driving them to secluded spots in east London and attacking them.
He threatened his first victim, 30, with a screwdriver before repeatedly raping her in March 2013.
He subjected the second, 26, to a similar ordeal in June the same year.
Police said he was "a very dangerous young man who preyed on vulnerable women", hiding his violent behaviour under a "seemingly normal exterior".
He was locked up for 15 years at the Inner London Crown Court after being convicted of four counts of rape on the two women, possession of an offensive weapon, and one count of robbery.
Detective Constable John Buck, of the Met's sexual offences, exploitation and child abuse command, appealed for any further victims of Mitton to come forward.

A serial rapist who called himself 'the Ripper' was caught after he attacked a woman in a home-made 'torture chamber'.
Duwayne Henry selected his victims using an online escort agency and lured them to his flat in Hackney, east London, where they were threatened with knives and repeatedly raped.
Police found a knives, a circular saw and a hedge trimmer laid out on the floor of his bedroom when they searched his home.
Officers believe he intended to use these weapons on his final victim, but was interrupted by a passer-by who heard her screams.
The mystery hero has never been identified.
Henry was jailed for life with a minimum sentence of 12 and a half years at Blackfriars Crown Court yesterday.
The 34-year-old targeted at least three prostitutes during his 14-month spree, believing their trade meant they were less likely to report his crimes, police said.
In the first known assault, which took place in early 2013, Henry repeatedly raped his victim in a brutal three-hour attack before taking a photo of the woman's driving licence.
He told her he would use the details to find her and kill her if she went to the police.
In the second known attack, in April 2013, Henry gagged the victim with duct-tape before and raped her at knife-point. He then forced her to wash his bedsheets before raping her again on the floor.
His final attack took place in February 2014, when Henry booked an escort to meet him outside the flats where he lived.
He held a knife to his victim's eye and led her to his bedroom, described by police as a 'torture chamber', where he had laid out a circular saw, seven knives and a hedge trimmer.
