Jailed: Gang of 23 drug dealers who flooded Oldham with crack cocaine and heroin.


Twenty three drug dealers who flooded the streets of Oldham with crack cocaine and heroin have been locked up.
The peddlers were hauled into court and jailed for a total of 74 years after a crackdown on illegal substances in the town and surrounding areas.
The men and women, including seven teenagers, were brought to justice after police raids in April, June and July.
During the swoops, officers seized heroin, crack cocaine, cannabis and cash.
Following the sentencing hearings at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, Inspector Paul Walker, of Oldham division, said: “After a year of hard work and determination from our dedicated officers in Oldham we have successfully put 23 people behind bars, and we will not stop here.
"We are fulfilling our goal of ridding the streets of Oldham of drugs and we will carry on listening to our communities, who have told us they want drug-dealers taken off their streets.
“I hope this serves as a warning that if you are involved in the organised crime and drug dealing that blights our community, we will pursue you and justice will be done.”






 
Those sentenced were:

• Adnan Arshad, 23, of Keble Avenue, Oldham, pleaded guilty to supplying heroin and crack cocaine.
  
• Lorraine Kenny, 42, of Oakenclough, Oldham, admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin. She was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
  
• Ann Marie Grima, 47, also of Oakenclough, Oldham, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin. She was sentenced to two years and four months.
  
• Nadeem Aslam, 22, of Browbeck, Oldham, admitted conspiracy to import heroin. He was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison.
  
• Adal Ahmed, 19, of Cranbrook Street, Oldham, pleaded guilty to supplying heroin. He sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
  
• Shahidul Hoque, 19, of Garforth Street, Oldham, pleaded guilty to the conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine. He was sentenced to four years and three months in prison.
  
• Emdadur Rahman, 19, of Glenby Way, Oldham, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine. He was sentenced to three years and eight months.
  
• Noor Ali, 20, of Maygate, Oldham, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine. He was sentenced to three years and four months.
  
• Mohammed Usman, 24, of Werneth Hall Road, Oldham, admitted conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine and was sentenced to three years in prison.

• Kriss Scott, 25, of Coppersmith Drive, Miles Platting, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine and was sentenced to three years prison.
  
• Liam Scullion, 24, of Swift Walk, Newton Heath, admitted conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine. He was jailed for two years and nine months.
  
• Emmanuel Richards, 36, of Lee Street, Oldham, pleaded guilty to the supplying heroin and crack cocaine. He was sentenced to four years.
  
• Two more defendants avoided immediate jail for their roles in the Oldham drugs ring.
  
  
  
  • Imran Khan, 29, of Lincoln Street, Oldham, pleaded guilty to offering to supply heroin. He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for one year.

Rapist Ibrahim Khan, 45, jailed for eight years


A jailed rapist has failed in a bid to clear his name.
Taxi driver Ibrahim Khan, who molested a 19-year-old girl when she fell asleep in his car, was jailed last year after he was found guilty by a jury.
He mounted an appeal on a point of law but has now been convicted for a second time after another trial in which his brave victim was again forced to give evidence about her ordeal.
Khan, 47, was jailed for eight years, the same sentence imposed last year.
The pervert attacked his 19-year-old victim after picking her up one night in Altrincham in October 2004.
She fell asleep in the front passenger seat and woke up to find Khan raping her. The girl managed to escape and run home.
Following the attack an investigation was launched, appeals were run in the media and DNA evidence was analysed, but the culprit was never found.
Khan was arrested for an unrelated crime in 2012 and a routine check of his DNA matched evidence retained at the time of the 2004 rape.
Khan, of St Albans Avenue, Ashton-under-Lyne , had denied rape but was found guilty following a trial at Minshull Street Crown Court .
A the time Detective Constable Rachel Ostick, of GMP’s Serious Sexual Offences Unit, praised the victim’s courage in giving evidence and said Khan ‘took advantage of a vulnerable young woman who was fast asleep and raped her’.
His victim woke up to find he was molesting her.
After Khan was jailed for eight years, DC Ostick said: “I want to praise the victim for her courage in giving evidence in two trials. She has had to confront her ordeal twice in court and her strength is a credit to her.
“I hope that the victim’s brave actions will encourage other victims of rape or sexual assault to come forward and be heard.”

Mebrehtom Abrha, who raped a virgin twice before casually walking away, has been jailed thanks to a BBC Crimewatch appeal





Mebrehtom Abrha, 25, was caught following a BBC Crimewatch appeal after the attack at around 6.30am on Sunday, July 19 last year.

Abrha, Asylum seeker from Eritrea in East Africa, but now living in Aston, pursued his 21-year-old victim for 10 minutes in Toxteth, Liverpool.

A killer who shot a man twice in the back for no apparent motive laughed as he was jailed for life.
Gunman Shaden Cadette, 23, smiled and waved to his family at the Old Bailey as he was convicted of murdering Ogarra Dixon, 24, and sentenced to at least 27 years in prison.
He shot Mr Dixon moments after they met on the streets of Brixton.
Prosecutor Timothy Cray, QC, said the motive was unknown as Cadette claimed he was not the gunman and had pleaded not guilty.

The court heard that Mr Dixon parked his car in Cadette’s street just after midnight in June last year and minutes later Cadette returned on his moped.
Mr Cray said: "He went into his house and the likelihood is he went to arm himself with a gun.
"He came out and took his moped down the road to where Mr Dixon was parked. Mr Dixon got out of his car and went to speak to Cadette.

Seconds later Mr Dixon was seen running up the street before collapsing. A bullet had passed through both lungs and pierced major blood vessels near the heart.
Cadette was arrested days later and admitted being at the scene but said someone else fired the fatal shots.
Judge Gerald Gordon told Cadette: “While your motive is unknown, what you did is clear. It was a cowardly and brutal act which ended this man’s life and caused tragedy for his family and friends.
"It leaves you inevitably facing a life sentence with a minimum term longer than you have so far lived.”

Krystal Kerr, 28, stole £17,000 from her work's safe after disguising herself in a burqa but was caught by police when she ordered a taxi on her own mobile phone

Four men have been found guilty of attempted murder after a man was stabbed more than 15 times around his heart, lung and liver in a “frenzied” knife attack.
The victim only survived after doctors and paramedics from London’s Air Ambulance performed emergency life-saving surgery in the street.
The 29-year-old had visited Emerald supermarket in Staines Road, Feltham, at 1.30am on June 14 last year when the four defendants attacked him.
He was punched to the ground before being stabbed more than 15 times, with some of the wounds penetrating his heart, lung and liver.
The attackers then fled in a waiting car and police said the attack appears to have been motivated by a previous dispute.

Mohammed Mohammed, 21, of Copley Close, Hanwell, Zakariya Ibrahim, 19, of Chesham Terrace, Ealing, Saad Sharif, 19, and Hanad Mohammed, 19, both of no fixed abode, were today convicted of attempted murder.
Abdi Wahab Mohammed, 26, of Down Way, Northolt, who drove the men to and from the scene, was found guilty of causing section 18 grievous bodily harm.
The victim, who miraculously survived the attack, was operated on at the roadside before undergoing further life-saving surgery at St Mary’s Hospital.
He was discharged from hospital 10 days later.
All five men will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday, January 22.

An Uber driver has been jailed for 18 months after sexually assaulting a young woman in his car.
Aliriza Kurt, of Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park, picked up the victim from Brixton Tube station at 11.15pm on May 8 last year.
The 24-year-old victim got in to the car and during the journey, Kurt, 42, leaned across and touched her, asking her “are you comfortable with this?”
The woman escaped the vehicle and was able to call the police. Kurt was arrested at 3.50am the following day.
He was today sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty at Inner London Crown Court and was made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Under the order, Kurt is not allowed to have females, except family members, in any vehicle driven by him and cannot apply to be or work as a private hire vehicle driver in England and Wales.

Grinning sex attacker who violently raped teenager at knifepoint jailed for 24 years



A smirking sex offender who raped one woman and tried to attack another in horrific assaults in south-east London has been jailed for 24 years. 
Rapist Oluwadamilare Baiyewu, 22, worked as volunteer at his local church in a bid to mask his sexual depravity.
But he preyed on young women, subjecting them to horrific assaults at knifepoint in Thamesmead. 
Baiyewu was arrested after two teenage girls were attacked near Binsey Walk in what police recognised to be linked assaults.
In one, the predator grabbed a 17-year-old victim as she got off a bus on December 9, 2014. 
He put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her before marching her into a secluded area where he raped her. 
A week earlier, on December 2 in the same area of Binsey Walk, another 17-year-old girl was grabbed from behind and had a knife pointed at her. 
Baiyewu had attempted to pull his victim towards an underpass but she managed to break free and run off. 
Baiyewu, of no fixed address, was arrested after DNA linking him to the attacks was recovered.
Today he was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court to 24 years in prison.

A London trio who trafficked 13 Thai people into the UK before pimping them out for sex have been jailed for a total of 16 years.
Southwark Crown Court heard how the victims, all female or transgender, were recruited in their native Thailand by the organised gang before being brought into this country, where their phones and official papers were confiscated.
They were taken to buildings in Kensington and Chelsea or Westminster and made to work long hours, handing over a large amount of their earnings.
The victims, who spoke little or no English, were forced to become prostitutes, in some cases providing unprotected sex to increase their popularity on seedy websites, the court heard.

This week, gang member Rashid Ahmed, 68, from Hounslow, was jailed for a total of six years after being found guilty of controlling prostitution and two counts of trafficking for sexual exploitation.

Kensington 27-year-old Hamall Amiri, also convicted of controlling prostitution and trafficking for sexual exploitation, was jailed for a total of five years.
Female Thai national Nattakarn Budcha, 36, from Marylebone, was given a five-year sentence for controlling prostitution and trafficking for sexual exploitation following a retrial.
All three were handed Slavery and Trafficking Prevention Orders.

"The sentences given by Judge Tomlinson today, alongside London's second Slavery and Trafficking Prevention Order, send a clear message and hopefully a deterrent to anyone thinking of taking part in this abhorrent crime.
"I would like to commend the bravery of the victims, several of whom were bought back to London to give evidence, in securing these convictions as well as the charities that provided vital support to those involved."

Man given three life sentences after he opened fire at south London barber's shop.



A man has been given three life sentences after he shot an innocent woman when he opened fire inside a busy south London barber's shop.
Joel Johnson, 27, of Baildon Street, Deptford, was sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday and will serve a minimum of 14 years in jail.
Detectives launched an investigation last May after a 38-year-old woman was shot in the leg while sitting in a busy barber’s on Rotherhithe New Road.
What started as a fight between several men outside the shop then continued inside, as Johnson appeared in the doorway and produced a gun before he opened fire.
The bullet passed through the woman’s leg and was later found on the floor. She was taken to hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

A benefits cheat who claimed he could barely walk managed to climb ten flights of stairs while working at a bank and play cricket at weekends, a court has been told.
Tariq Aslam, of Coleshill Road, Hodge Hill, Birmingham, falsely pocketed £67,000 over an eight-year period after claiming he needed constant care.
But during a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court, Judge Roderick Henderson said that despite the defendant presenting himself as 'virtually incapable of doing anything', it was a significant and lengthy deception.
The 47-year-old had previously admitted two charges of failing to notify a change of circumstances and making a fraudulent claim.

He also claimed rheumatoid arthritis and kidney problems meant he could only walk short distances, and then only with the aid of a stick or walking frame.
Aslam further claimed he could not get out of a chair without assistance and had not driven for 20 years.

Tameside drug dealers jailed over crack cocaine and heroin racket

Two drug dealers concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine in Tameside have been jailed.
Police discovered that Sanjay Patel and Naveed Ahmed, both 35, had been dealing drugs in Denton, Ashton and Audenshaw .
Both men were arrested on suspicion of drug dealing on Thursday, August 21, 2014.
When officers searched an address linked to Patel, they seized £5,000 and mobile phones and a vehicle worth £21,000.
Patel, of Mill View Court, Oldham pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

Ahmed, of Burlington Street, Ashton-under-Lyne pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine and the production of cannabis.
At Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday Patel was jailed for four years, while Ahmed received two years in prison.
Det Sgt Joe Harrop from the Tameside Challenger Organised Crime Team said: “I hope today’s sentences show that we will relentlessly pursue the drug dealers who are damaging Tameside.
“Drugs and organised crime causes devastating harm to local communities and I would like to thank the people who have supported us and given us information, as you have helped to put these drug dealers behind bars.

A rapist who carried out a “brutal and callous” attack on a woman in south London was branded a danger to women today as he was jailed for 12 years.
Bruno Andre Miguel Pereira, 21, attacked his victim in Tudor Close, Brixton Hill, in the early hours of August 2nd last year as she walked home from a night out.
Pereira, who was captured on CCTV approaching other lone women before the attack, asked the woman for a lighter and the pair sat down together. 
Judge Usha Karu said: "What followed was a nightmare for her. You tried to kiss her and you placed your hand under her skirt. 
“She said no and tried to stand up and then you became forceful and violent. You grabbed her by the wrists and dragged her into the bushes."

A teenager needed 12 stiches after being brutally attacked on a bus by a drug dealer for refusing to buy cocaine.
The victim, 18, was talking about Coca-Cola with friends when the dealer misunderstood and tried to sell them the Class A drug, police said.
Crack and heroin dealer Shahadat Hussain, 21, was told to go away but responded by grabbing one of the victim’s friends by the neck.
When the victim stepped in to help his friend, Hussain launched a savage attack, punching him repeatedly before slashing him in the face.

The victim was taken to Whipps Cross hospital where he received 12 stitches to the "nasty" gash on his nose.
Hussain, of Malmesbury Terrace, Canning Town, was today jailed for 17 years over the assault in Romford Road, east London, on March 9 last year.
He was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court after being found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent.
Hussain previously admitted possession with intent to supply crack, heroin and cannabis, after being found with a “large amount” of the drugs.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Hindmarsh, of the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: "This was a vicious, unprovoked attack on a man who refused to buy drugs from Hussain, leaving the victim with nasty injuries as a result.
"This sentence sends a strong message that crime on London's transport network will not be tolerated."

Three Somali men who gang-raped a white 16-year-old girl in the bathroom of a hotel where they went to celebrate Eid have been jailed for 30 years.

Muhyadeen Osman, Bilal Ahmed and Mowled Yussuf, all now 20, were just teenagers when they attacked the girl at the Victoria Park Hotel in Manchester, regarding her as 'easy prey', the court heard.

The group, then all aged 17, had spent the previous night in the hotel with a number of other men as part of Eid celebrations when one of their friends, who had met the girl on BlackBerry Messenger, brought her round saying she should 'meet his boys.'

A clubber who raped a transvestite in a bar was snared after a DNA sample was recovered from the victim’s wig.
The victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was using the toilets at a Manchester nightclub in the early hours of the morning when Siavash Jangani entered the open door of the cubicle and demanded that he perform a sex act on him.
Now Jangani, 34, of Pheasant Drive, Chorlton , has been jailed for five years after being found guilty of rape at Manchester Crown Court . Opening the sentencing hearing, prosecutor Vanessa Thomson said: “Jangani was identified as consequence of a DNA hit from the (victim’s) wig.”
Jangani, whose DNA was on the police system following a conviction for criminal damage, continues to protest his innocence. He told police after his arrest that he thought the victim was a woman - and that he had ‘come on’ to him after he went to the toilet to be sick.

But the jury rejected his account following the emotional testimony of the victim.
CCTV showed Jangani ‘hanging around’ the venue’s toilets at various times throughout the night.
Following his conviction for the attack, Jangani’s sentencing was delayed four times as he tried to avoid going to jail - even taking an overdose earlier this month, moments before he was about to be sent down.
At the latest hearing Jangani, who was supported in court by his girlfriend, represented himself, protesting his innocence and lashing out at the victim.

“I think he planned the whole case as a game," Jangani said. “I haven’t done anything wrong. I did not force (him) to do anything he didn’t want to do.”
In a statement read in the moments before Jangani was finally jailed, the victim said: “At the time the incident was happening I felt scared and powerless. When I’ve previously been in threatening situations I have always been able to get myself out. That didn’t work this time - my dignity was taken from me. I went from shock and disbelief to feeling hysterical and guilty for not fighting.
"The words the man used (that night) echo in my head and haunt me. I found the showing of the CCTV in court to be like watching the worst horror film. It took me right back that time I tried to forget about. I’m still dealing with the effects of what he did to me, and hope one day I will be able to move on.”

Border Force officers stopped 44-year-old Danovan Silveria Bull in Terminal 5 as he arrived on a domestic flight from Aberdeen on December 19 last year, after a detector dog drew attention to his baggage.
His bags were searched and a number of cling-film wrapped packages were found, which tested positive to a cocaine field test.
Further examination confirmed that the packages contained approximately 21kg of cocaine, with a street value of around £3.3 million.   
Bull, a Jamaican national, who lived in Hickmore Walk, Clapham, was arrested for being in possession of a Class A drug.
The case was referred to the National Crime Agency, and he was later charged with possession with intent to supply drugs.

A cruel thief who snatched a man’s laptop at his dead son’s funeral has been jailed for more than four years.
Franklyn Mathurin, 47, sneaked into the Willesden church posing as a mourner to steal the computer from the grieving father while the congregation went to the cemetery to bury the six-year-old child.
The laptop had been used during the funeral for a slideshow of pictures of TJ Martin, who was born with a rare disorder called Candle syndrome. According to his father Norris Martin, the photographs were not stored anywhere else.
Mathurin, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to the November 2 burglary. On Tuesday he was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court to four and a half year in prison.
