Choudry Ikhalaq Hussain could be in Pakistan


Police hunting a convicted rapist who fled the country during his trial believe he may now be in Pakistan.
Choudhry Ikhalaq Hussain, 38, was convicted of rape, sexual activity with a child and conspiracy to rape in November.
He was convicted in his absence and police believe that he fled the country during his trial.
Hussain had claimed that a family member had died and was given permission by the trial judge to attend the funeral, which was due to be held somewhere in the UK.
However he did not return to court and officers now believe that Hussain fled the country through the port system.
Police say he may now be in Pakistan.
Hussain, of Mayfield Terrace, Rochdale , was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of rape and one count of conspiracy to rape against one victim in a trial held at Minshul Street Crown Court on November 30, 2015.

His was convicted as part of Operation Doublet, a Greater Manchester Police investigation in child sexual exploitation mainly in Rochdale.
Ten men were found guilty of a range of serious sexual offences during two trials held at Minshull Street Crown Court and are awaiting sentence.
Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Daniels, the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) for Operation Doublet, said officers are determined to find Hussain.
He said: “Operation Doublet was launched following the 2011 investigation into child sexual exploitation in Rochdale and we identified a number of cases, which broadly took place between 2004 and 2008, across Greater Manchester where teenage girls were being sexually exploited by older men.
“Hussain was one of the offenders identified and he has now been convicted of a number of serious offences but he seems determined to try and get away with not serving his time for the horrendous crimes that he has committed.
“We believe he may be in Pakistan but we are still determined to find him and ensure that he is held to account for what he did.
“If anybody has any information about his whereabouts then I would urge you to please contact the police.”

A Muslim councillor has admitted that some feel as though 'it takes two to tango' as 12 men were jailed for gang-raping a 13-year-old white girl in West Yorkshire.
The gang of men from Pakistani origin were jailed for a total of 143 years at Bradford Crown Court today, for 13 months of horrendous abuse of the British white girl in 2011 and 2012.
However, the Councillor for Keighley Central, where the abuse took place, has admitted that some members of the community felt 'it takes two to tango' and that the girl may have 'played her part'.

Zafar Ali, who has been a member of the Keighley Mosque for decades believes that some of the men may have attended in the past, but said the Muslim community totally condemn their actions.
He told MailOnline: 'Everyone now believes that justice has been done, we need to move forward and it is a lesson for the whole Muslim community.
'There are a few bad apples but this does not represent the Muslim community as a whole and any sensible Muslim totally condemns these actions.' 

Eleven of the men were today jailed for rape and a twelfth man was jailed for sexual activity with a child under 16 today at Bradford Crown Court, but the ringleader has fled to Bangladesh.

The sentences come as it emerged that:

• Ringleader Ahmed Al-Choudhury who facilitated most of the offences is believed to now be living in Bangladesh after fleeing at the beginning of the investigation in 2012

After the sentencing, Kris Hopkins, Conservative MP for Keighley spoke out against the 'sick model of organised groups of Asian men grooming young white girls', but said there are more women out there who need justice.
He said the sentenced were vindication for controversial comments he made during a parliamentary debate in 2012, claiming that organised groups of Asian men were 'going around raping white girls'. 
However, he claims that even today he has been 'lambasted' for even mentioning that the men are Asian when talking about the sentences.
He told MailOnline: 'There are sexual offenders who are white, but the fact is this particular model is all Asian men and all the victims were white.
'I was attacked in 2012 and today, when these men were convicted, the community was silent. You have to ask yourself why these men get away with this behaviour.
'There is broader issues around the way women are treated in that community, there are hundreds if not thousands of women who live behind that door and have no voice.'

In a Commons speech three years ago, Mr Hopkins caused controversy three years ago when he suggested Muslim men were 'fundamentally' sexist towards women.

Arif Chowdhury, 20, allegedly left for Bangladesh during the investigation after he was arrested in 2012 in connection to the raping of the schoolgirl, Bradford crown court heard last year.
He is also accused of pimping her out to his contacts in Keighley when he was just 15.
Louise Blackwell QC described Chowdhury, a convicted drug dealer, as being 'evil' and violent.
A jury heard how Chowdhury first raped the girl, who cannot be named, behind a church when he was 15.
He had previously got to know her when she was 13 after persuading her to do drug runs in Keighley.
She had attempted to stop helping the drugdealer, revealing to police how he had racially abused her and then raped her.
Chowdhury subjected her to regular beatings and made her have sex with other men in a year-long ordeal.
He allegedly brought her to an underground car park to meet four teenage friends of Chowdhury before they raped her.
He warned that gangs of Asian men were at large in Keighley, raping white girls, in the debate which followed the Rotherham sexual abuse scandal.
Questions were asked after it emerged that between 1997 and 2013, there were various reports of sexual exploitation at the hands of Asian men, but some were never made public or finalised.
However, Zafar Ali, who spent 21 years working for the government's Racial Equality Council, said that it is unfair to 'label the entire Muslim community'.
'There are a few bad apples but that doesn't mean to say everyone is bad. What they did is not Muslim and any sensible Muslim would condemn it.'


During the case, the Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, said their behaviour throughout the trial was the worst he had seen in 40 years of legal practice.

He told them: 'The attitudes of the majority of you have so clearly demonstrated to these proceedings has been contemptuous, disrespectful and arrogant on a scale that I have hardly seen before in many years of practice in criminal law.
'Exactly the same attitude to the 13/14 year old girl who you all sexually abused and exploited for your own selfish gratification.'
He added: 'None of these defendants had any concern for the victim.
'They were totally uninterested in her welfare and what damage they were causing her.
'The victim clearly demanded pity and understanding but their view of her was heartless and demeaning.
'They saw her as a pathetic figure who had no worth and who served no purpose than to be an object that they could sexually misuse and cast aside.
'They showed her no shred of decency or humanity when as a vulnerable child she so needed care and understanding.'
The court heard their victim now has post-traumatic stress disorder and clinical depression.

Police are searching for Florin Radu


Police are hunting a convicted sex trafficker who may have been on the run for more than a year.
Florin Radu, 30, was due to stand trial at Minshull Street Crown Court in October but failed to show.
He was arrested at Luton Airport in March 2014 and remanded in custody until he appeared in court in November that year. He did not turn up to his trial in October last year and was convicted in his absence of human trafficking, controlling prostitution for gain and assault.
So far all efforts to trace Radu have been unsuccessful and police are now appealing for the public’s help to find him.
Police arrested Radu after a female victim of his managed to escape and tell police.
The 23-year-old had arrived in the UK from Romania in August 2013, believing she would be starting work as a waitress.
But this was not the case, and instead the woman was moved around a number of residential addresses and hotels in the Midlands and North West of England – including the Fallowfield, Oldham and Wigan areas of Greater Manchester – where she was forced to prostitute herself, with Radu taking all the money.
Any time she refused to engage in sexual activity, she was beaten by Radu.
In November 2013, whilst she was in Oldham, the victim managed to escape and flag down a passing police car and tell them of her horrific ordeal.
It is not clear when Radu went missing but police say they have not been able to trace him since October when he failed to show up in court.
Detectives believe him to have links across the West Midlands, specifically the Dudley, Wolverhapton and Coventry areas, as well as Luton and areas across Greater Manchester.
Det Con Simon Hurdley of the Greater Manchester Police Sexual Crime Unit said: “We have been trying to trace Radu for some time and have exhausted all methods and so I would now like to ask for the public’s help to find him.
“He is a predator who preyed on a vulnerable woman who believed that she was coming to the UK for a better life before he got hold of her and made her life a misery, putting her through one horrific ordeal after another.
“We know he has links across the West Midlands and Greater Manchester as some other areas such as Luton so he truly could be anywhere.
“If you believe you may have seen him or you have any information on his whereabouts then please contact police.”

A "depraved" paedophile has been jailed for 16 years after admitting almost 20 child sex offences.
Julian King, 53, groomed two female victims - one under 16 and one under 13 when the abuse happened - before preying on them during a 12 year period. 
He was arrested after a victim contacted police in 2014 to inform them of abuse she suffered at his hands between 2003 and 2009. 
Detectives then identified another of King's victims, who he abused in south London between 1997 and 1999. 

King, from Waltham Forest, was jailed for 16 years at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday. 
He had pleaded guilty to five counts of rape or attempted rape of a child, six counts of indecency with a child, three counts of indecent assault, one count of sexual assault with a child, one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of taking indecent images of a child. 
Detective Constable Jon Froude, from the Met's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: "The victims were preyed upon by a depraved man who used his relationships to manipulate them. The sentence reflects the seriousness of the offences."

Three men and two women have been found guilty of a string of offences involving the sexual exploitation of girls in Rotherham.

One other person had previously admitted offences. Another two were cleared of all charges.
The gang led by brothers Arshid, Basharat and Bannaras Hussain - known as Mad Ash, Bash and Bono - were charged with 51 indictments and more than 70 offences.
They were committed against 12 teenagers between 1987 and 2003.
Their crimes included rape, sexual assault, procuring a woman under 21 to become a prostitute, abduction and false imprisonment.
The brothers were described as a violent, gun-toting and drug-dealing trio who appeared to "own" the South Yorkshire town.

Jurors at Sheffield Crown Court heard victims were passed around by the men, who raped and beat them.
Prosecutor Michelle Colborne QC told the court that teenagers were "targeted, sexualised and in some instances subjected to acts of a degrading and violent nature".
Victims were trafficked, locked up, physically assaulted and threatened with death.
One told jurors she thought she was going to die when her hands and feet were tied and she had petrol poured over her.
Another was abused from the age of 11, and passed around "at the say so of Arshid Hussain", the ringleader, often as "payment" for debts.

One girl was told to dig her own grave by Basharat Hussain during a horrific two-hour deal in the Peak District during which she was physically and verbally abused and spat on.
Arshid and Basharat Hussain were found guilty of multiple rapes and indecent assaults.
Younger sibling Bannaras Hussain, 36, pleaded guilty to 10 charges including rape, indecent assault and assault at the beginning of the trial.
Qurban Ali, 53, was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to rape.
Karen MacGregor, 58, and Shelley Davies, 40, were found guilty of conspiracy to procure prostitutes and false imprisonment.
Described as a "mother figure" in court, MacGregor took in girls from children's homes, purporting to provide them with safe haven and support.
One victim said: "It was like Hansel and Gretel living at Karen's. It was all nice and shiny and inviting and then it turned quite horrible."
The guilty six will be sentenced on Friday.
Brothers Majid Bostan, 37 and Sajid Bostan, 38, were cleared of all charges.

A teenage boy and two men have been jailed for a total of 30 years after they were found in possession of a loaded shotgun.
The 16-year-old boy from Upper Edmonton, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to eight years' after he pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of an offensive weapon, and was found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Olatunji Ladejobi, 21, of Araglen Avenue, South Ockendon, Essex, was jailed for 11 years after he was found guilty of possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. 
Elvis Kisikidi, 20, of Gurney Close, Barking, was sentenced to 11 years in prison after he was found guilty of possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. 
All three were sentenced today at Wood Green Crown Court.

An Islamic studies tutor who raped a 14-year-old pupil and left her pregnant during a five-year campaign of abuse has been jailed for 19 years.
Mohammed Islam, 31, from Bethnal Green, started molesting the schoolgirl in 2010 when she was just nine, while teaching the Koran to children at an East End Islamic centre.
She “felt powerless” to stop the sex attacks, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard, which culminated in Islam raping and impregnating her in July last year.

Prosecutor Robert Brown said the girl then delayed having an abortion so tests could prove Islam was the father.
The “respected” tutor initially claimed his victim had initiated sex despite her young age, but he admitted rape and sexual activity with a child when she agreed to testify against him.
The girl's father, in a victim impact statement, said: “What Mohammed has done to my daughter has broken me.
“In our religion she is no longer considered a virgin and is therefore unable or unlikely to get married to have a family.
“I am devastated. I am so angry. I only hope and pray for her that this abuse will not have a long term effect on her.”

A drug dealer has been jailed for life for stabbing to death a “much-loved son and brother” when he intervened to protect his friend.
Osman Musa Mohamed, 20, from Woolwich, was today sentenced at the Old Bailey to a minimum prison term of 22 years for the murder of Ahmed Ahmed in Plumstead on August 10, 2015.
The victim was knifed a number of times in the leg outside the block of flats where he lived. Police believe he was set upon at Turton House on Barnfield Road as he stepped in to prevent a group of men from attacking a friend.
His sister saw the masked mob approaching but ducked out of sight before the killers struck, the court heard. Today in a statement, Ahmed’s family said they were “heartbroken and traumatised”.

Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Reeves, of the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "Ahmed was set upon just metres from his front door by a group of men who had clearly gone there to commit violence.
"It only took a few seconds to inflict the injuries that resulted in Ahmed's death. In that brief moment, they robbed a family of a much-loved son and brother.
“One of Ahmed's sisters found him lying in the doorway, something she will have to live with for the rest of her life."
She added: "The defendant was involved in drug dealing, and the group had gone to the flats to attack another man. It appears that Ahmed died as he tried to prevent this from happening.”



Search: Police are keen to speak to Ismail Saleban, who is thought to have left the country.



Officers continue to investigate the killing and have appealed specifically for information regarding the whereabouts of Ismail Saleban, 22, who they fear may have left the country for Denmark.

Five other men were acquitted of involvement in Mr Ahmed’s murder.
Hussein Roble, 18 (25.05.97) from Woolwich, and a 20-year-old man who cannot be named for legal reasons were cleared.
Sazzad Khan, 20, of no fixed address, was acquitted of murder but sentenced to six months in prison on February 17 for breach of an ASBO.
The case against Khalid Hashi and Hamza Dodi, 24, (12.10.91), both from Woolwich, was discontinued on 22 February.

A man has been jailed for five years after stabbing a Tube passenger with a pair of scissors in a random attack.
Adeyemi Adekeye, 27, attacked the victim on the Victoria line platform at Finsbury Park Tube station at about 1.30pm on August 11 last year.
The victim thought he had been punched and managed to get onto a train and away from Adekeye. But once on the train, he realised he had been injured and was bleeding.
Adekeye boarded a Piccadilly line train to Heathrow Airport and was arrested by officers at the airport’s bus station.
He was found guilty of grievous bodily harm at Blackfriars Crown Court on January 28 and was sentenced to five years in prison on March 4.

A former hospital cleaner was today jailed for 14 years after raping a woman and sexually assaulting others inside health centres.

Sexual predator Mani Kurian, 50, 'targeted women' both in hospitals where he worked and in public before he was arrested by officers.

He was initially charged in July 2015 with four counts of sexual assault through touching and common assault.

Three of the sexual offences took place at Worthing Hospital in West Sussex between April 2013 and April 2015.

He also sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman in Eastbourne, East Sussex, in April 2015.

The common assault took place at Eastbourne District General Hospital in January of the same year.  

None of the victims were hospital patients.

Kurian, of Eastbourne, was later charged with the rape of a 21-year-old woman in Eastbourne which dated back to October 2014.

A further charge of sexual assault through touching was also added to the indictment following an incident at Eastbourne District General Hospital between June and September 2014.

A judge jailed him at Hove Crown Court today after being convicted following a trial which started in January.

He denied rape, common assault and five counts of sexual assault through touching.

Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Inspector Neil Ralph, said: 'Mani Kurian is a sexual predator who targeted women both in the workplace and in public.

A paedophile known as ‘Prince’ has been jailed after raping a schoolgirl he lured back to his house.
Uwayemwen Osagie, 32, also attacked another girl in a busy restaurant after plying her with booze.
The ‘depraved predator’ has now been sentenced to 10 years and nine months in jail by a judge.
Osagie met his first victim when she was with friends outside a takeaway in November 2013 and one of them recognised him.
He suggested that they go back to his house for drinks and got a taxi with them.
Once there he offered to give the victim a tour of the house whilst the others went to the shop.
He showed her to his bedroom before he locked the door and raped her.
During the attack, the victim’s friends returned and began banging on the door as they heard her cries but Osagie was not deterred.
Then in January 2015, Osagie met a 16-year-old girl in a restaurant in Bolton with a friend and began speaking to her.
The two exchanged numbers and the following night when the girl and her friend missed their bus home, Osagie offered to pay for her to get a taxi if she came and met him at the restaurant again.
They obliged and went to the restaurant where he encouraged them to drink whiskey, even becoming aggressive when another man tried to intervene.
The girl asked Osagie to order her a taxi home but he said he could not hear her due to the loud music and took her to a quiet corner of the diner where he sexually assaulted her.
Osagie of Holmeswood Road, Bolton pleaded guilty to one count of rape and one count of sexual assault and was jailed for 129 months by a judge at Bolton Crown Court.
He was also ordered to sign the sex offender’s register indefinitely.
Sopeaking after the hearing, Det Con Michelle Holland, from GMP’s Bolton Division said: “Uwayemwen Osagie, or Prince as he regularly introduces himself, is a depraved predator who targeted young people without a second thought.
“We are pleased to be able to say that he has now been sentenced for his horrific crimes against vulnerable girls and I hope this will help give his victims some form of closure.
“I would like to pay tribute to them for the bravery they have shown coming forward and also thank them for the support they have given to help take a dangerous man off the streets of Bolton.”

An illegal matchmaker who arranged for her partner to marry another woman has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Mum-of-three Irene Lopes de Oliveria, 36, arranged for Portuguese nationals to be brought into the country on easyJet flights before marrying Nigerian overstayers who were desperate to get EU citizenship.
She even arranged for the father of her three children, Gilson De Carvalho, to marry another woman, Olubukola Olaniran, while living with him in Gorton .
Sending her down, Judge Hilary Manley said: “Not only do these offences strike at the very heart of our national security arrangements, they do genuine harm to those who genuinely marry non-EU nationals...this is the arranging of sham marriages on an organised and commercial scale.”
The marriages all took place at Salford and Manchester Register offices, between September 2011 and April 2013. Manchester Crown Court heard proceeds from the racket helped Lopes de Oliveria fund an online gambling habit.
She was arrested in Manchester on 4 July 2013, at her home address, following a probe by an Immigration Enforcement Criminal Investigations team.
Investigators learnt £74,000 in unaccounted for sums had passed through accounts connected to her.
Now Lopes has been locked up alongside the people whose sham weddings she organised.

Ashley Dhliway, jailed for rape and sexual assault



A carer who raped a woman and sexually assaulted another has been jailed.
Ashley Dhliwayo, 32, who has always protested his innocence, was convicted after two trials.
The jury hearing his first trial failed to reach a verdict, but he was found guilty of single counts of rape and sexual assault after a retrial at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court .
Both victims were forced to give evidence and relive their ordeals in court twice as a result.
One was in court for the sentencing hearing, and broke down in tears as Dhilwayo was led away from the dock by security staff to start his jail term.
Judge Angela Nield said Dhliwayo, of Mayfield Road, Whalley Range , had shown a ‘pattern of increasing sexual behaviour’ before he committed the attacks in the Trafford area.
She said Dhliwayo, a refugee from Zimbabwe, gave the first victim ‘unwanted sexual attention’ before he sexually assaulted her.
Judge Nield said: “You suggested that you wanted to have fun, despite her protestations, her shock, her slapping you away. It seemed to you a surprise that she did not wish to go on.”
The court heard she didn’t immediately make a complaint.
But Judge Nield added: “You went on, only weeks later, to commit a very much more serious offence of rape. You forced your attention on her despite her protestations and despite the fact that she told you no and tried to prevent you.”
The court heard the rape victim was forced to endure a four-week course of anti-HIV treatment as a result.
In a statement, she told the court that the case has had a ‘huge impact’ on both her life and the lives of her family.

Muhammed Hammad, 30, was jailed for murder after dousing his wife with petrol and setting her on fire
An illegal immigrant who murdered his wife by dousing her with white spirit and setting her on fire has been jailed for life.
Muhammed Hammad, 30, carried out the brutal killing of Nazia Akhtar, 31, following an argument at their home in Birmingham on April 25 last year.
Hammad was sentenced to life in prison, and will serve a minimum of 25 years, after being found guilty of her murder at Birmingham Crown Court. 

The court heard how the attack took place after Ms Akhtar threatened to leave her husband because his 'controlling' ways had become too much to bear.
The couple met in 2013 and married the year after, but Ms Akhtar had soon threatened to divorce.
She claimed Pakistani-born Hammad, who was in the country illegally, had only married her to get a British visa.
On the day of the attack, Ms Akhtar said she had asked her husband to leave their flat, which resulted in him furiously throwing the white spirit and calling her a 'fat ugly cow.'
In order to cover his tracks and make it look like an accident, Muhammad then poured the flammable liquid over himself and set himself on fire.
Both were taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital and placed into induced comas but sadly Ms Akhtar died of her injuries on June 12.
The dedicated care worker had suffered 60 per cent burns to her face, ears, neck body, arm and leg.

Ten men jailed for 125 years for grooming and sexually abusing vulnerable teen girl in Rochdale .



 TEN men who groomed and sexually abused an ‘extremely vulnerable’ teenage girl in Rochdale have been jailed for a total of 125 years.
The complainant walked into a police station shortly after widespread media coverage of the 2012 convictions at Liverpool Crown Court of a number of Asian defendants for grooming white girls for sex in the town.
She told officers that from the age of 14 she too had been repeatedly sexually groomed and raped by a large number of men in Rochdale.


She also said that “hundreds” of men would ring her up, wanting her to go out and have sex with them.
The offences, which also involved other under-age victims, took place in Rochdale and the surrounding area, mainly between 2005 and 2010.

Nine of the defendants were sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday, while another man was jailed last year. They have been sentenced to 125 years in total.

One of the men, Afraz Ahmed, 33, of Oswald Street, Rochdale, was jailed for 25 years after he was convicted of two counts of rape, two counts of conspiracy to rape, two counts of inciting sexual activity, five counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of Section 47 assault against five victims.

The victim, who has learning difficulties, was said by prosecutors to be an “extremely vulnerable young woman” who had endured “a very difficult home life”.

She gave evidence in two separate trials which lasted a total of 15 weeks.

Seven other complainants, who were aged 13 to 22 at the time, also came forward to testify which secured convictions against a number of the defendants, who were all of Pakistani or Bangladeshi heritage.

A 40-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was jailed for 23 years after he was convicted of rape and attempting to abduct a child in relation to three victims. He will serve an additional eight years on extended licence when he is released.



Choudry Ikhalaq Hussein, 38, formerly of Mayfield Terrace, Rochdale, was jailed for 19 years in his absence for rape, sexual activity with a child and conspiracy to rape.

Rehan Ali, 27, of Cleethorpes Avenue, Blackley , was imprisoned for seven years and Kutab Miah, 35, of Ramsey Street, Rochdale, for nine years after both were found guilty of rape and sexual activity with a child.

Abid Khan, 39, of Whitney Road, Liverpool, was jailed for six-and-a-half years and Mohammed Zahid, 55, of Croxton Avenue, Rochdale, for five years after both were found guilty of sexual activity with a child.

Mohammed Dauood, 38, of Leyland Road, Burnley, was jailed for 16 years after he was convicted of offences in relation to two victims including rape, sexual activity with a child and sexual assault.

David Law, 46, of Colmanhay Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, was jailed for 11 years after he was convicted of conspiracy to rape.

A tenth defendant, Mahfuz Rahman, 29, of HMP Garth, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to three counts of sexual activity with a child. He was jailed for five-and-a-half years last September.

Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Daniels, the Senior Investigating Officer for Operation Doublet, said: “Operation Doublet was launched following the 2011 investigation into child sexual exploitation in Rochdale and we identified a number of cases, which broadly took place between 2004 and 2008, across Greater Manchester where teenage girls were being sexually exploited by older men.

Two drug dealers have been caged after being caught red-handed carrying a huge stash.
Mohammed Jahangir Bashir, 44, and Azhar Iqbal, 31, were stopped by police in Oldham last September after officers smelt cannabis coming from their car.
The pair were detained after being pulled over by GMP’s Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit on Lees Road on September 29.
When Bashir and Iqbal were searched at a police station, officers discovered they were carrying cocaine, heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis.
They were both arrested and further drug paraphernalia was found in their homes, implicating them in the supply of controlled drugs.
Bashir, of Prospect Place, Ashton-under-lyne, was jailed for seven years at Minshull Street Crown Court after being found guilty of two counts of possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine.
Iqbal, of Savoy Street, Glodwick, Oldham, was sentenced to three years and four months in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply heroin and cocaine.
Detective Constable Michelle Lomax from GMP’s Oldham-based organised crime team said:
“Mohammed Bashir and Azhar Iqbal were heavily involved in supplying controlled drugs throughout the local area.
“I hope the sentences passed to the men will go some way to showing that we remain as committed and active as ever to taking drugs off our streets”.

A man who convinced a young girl they were in a 'grown up' relationship so he could entice her to his house and abuse her has been locked up.
Irfan Mohammed Fiaz, 20, pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a child and child abduction offences in Rochdale .
A Minshull Street Crown Court judge heard how his 14-year-old victim was reported missing from home overnight three times in October 2015.
Each time Fiaz, of Salik Gardens, had met the girl and took her to his house to sexually abuse her.
Due to concerns raised by a member of the public, officers tracked the teenager to Fiaz’s address where he was arrested.
During his police interview, Fiaz showed no remorse and blamed the child for the incident throughout.
At an earlier hearing, he pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child and taking a child so as to remove them from a person having lawful control.
On Thursday, May 5, Fiaz was sentenced to three years in a young offenders institute and will remain on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.

A fraudster who sold fake identities in an immigration racket posed as a preacher to get into the country.
False passport salesman Dalbinder Singh was one of a number of people who purported to be Sikh ministers of religion in a moneymaking scam masterminded by Ravinder Singh, trustee of a Cheetham Hill-based charity.
For a fee of up to £13,000, Ravinder Singh would sponsor visa applications for people wanting to come to the UK from the Punjab. In order to dupe the Home Office into issuing the visa, he would say that the migrants were qualified ministers of religion employed by his organisation, Khalsa Missionary Society.
Once they had got their visas and paid Ravinder Singh, the migrants would make further ‘donations’ to the charity. These donations would then be paid back to them - so it looked like they were salaried missionaries.

Officials investigating the scam after a tip-off raided the London home of Dalbinder Singh, who had come to into the UK falsely in 2012 after being sponsored by Ravinder.
They discovered that Dalbinder was running a racket of his own - supplying false resident permits, passports and national insurance numbers to order.
Dalbinder Singh, 30, was jailed for four-and-a-half years for possessing false identity documents and supplying articles for use in fraud last year at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London last year. Now he has been ordered to serve another 14 months, to run concurrently, at Manchester Crown Court after admitting obtaining leave to remain by deception.
He was sentenced alongside another beneficiary of Ravinder Singh’s scam, Manjit Kaur, 29, of Telford Way, High Wycombe, who also admitted leave to remain by deception in 2012, but was given a 12-month sentence, suspended for two years, and 80 hours paid work.

 Ravinder Singh, 57, of Higher Lane, Whitefield, who worked as a mortgage advisor and carried out genuine charitable works with Khalsa, despite the fraud, was jailed for 27 months in the same hearing. He admitted three charges of conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration halfway through a Manchester Crown Court trial last month.
Sending him down, Judge Hilary Manley said Ravinder Singh had exploited the ‘vagueness’ in the official definition of a minister of religion, coupled with the ‘wholesale shifting of responsibility’ from the Home Office to sponsors when it came to conducting checks.
“You are a hardworking family man - it’s sad you succumbed to the temptation to exploit the very considerable power conferred upon you by the Home Office”, the judge told him.

Jailed: Prison officer who smuggled heroin into HMP Wandsworth.


A corrupt prison officer who smuggled heroin and mobile phones into HMP Wandsworth has been jailed.
Kwaku Boakye, 59, used his position to smuggle in various restricted items including drugs and alcohol after taking bribes.
Boakye was given items by Donna Taylor to give to her partner Jerry Agyemang, who was serving a sentence for a firearm offence.
An investigation found that Taylor, 34, had paid Boakye £360 to smuggle in the items.
She was also jailed for four years for her part in the scheme.
