Turkey dismisses Trump threats over Kurds

Turkey has dismissed President Donald Trump's threat to "devastate" its economy if it attacks Kurdish forces in Syria following a planned pullout of US troops.


"You cannot get anywhere by threatening Turkey economically," Foreign Minister Nevlut Cavusoglu said. ................

Trumps support for the PYD/YPG will no doubt stress out the Turks, but its worth remembering that the Kurds are fighting Daesh on the front line.

Trump says he's had enough of funding and placing US assets in harms way, that's fair enough!

I saw the pound go up from 6 to 8 lires last time trump got angry at turkey when they held that pastor.
it's gone up from about 6.70 to 7.03 today.

Turkey is not doing well economically at the moment. the shine has gone off Bir Dakika Beys economic miracle.
While it does not affect the rich that much the poor, who make up most of the population are having to pay 6lires a kilo for onions and potatoes. where a year ago it would have been less than 2.

He may well be trying to present this as an affront to turkish security, but if america chooses they could bury turkey economically.
Last time he had to go with the begging bowl for a bailout to Quatar. there's not much left to flog.

For once I support Trump
The Kurds have done a huge amount in fighting ISIS and they need to be protected

The amount of hysteria and fake news regarding Trump is relentless, accusation of Russian collusion, that he's a racist, that he's an antisemite, etc etc.

Vile centrists like the vomit inducing Pelosi and Shumer stalling over border security, perhaps the main reason Trump was elected in the first place.

Washington democrats crying over $5.7bn for a border wall when it's agreed to $1trillion of government borrowing.
