Frontline Medicine

Did anyone see this excellent TV series recently. I have just watched the second episode about what the medical world is doing for the troops injured in afghanistan and iraq and some of the innovations are absolutely amazing.
the advances in prsthetic arms and legs is coming on apace, but the truly amazing things that are happening are in the fields of regenerative medicine and transplant surgeries. They can now grow muscle tissue in your own body by using a power gained from a pigs bladder. And one research team are developing a 3d printer that will will print body parts and print new skin cells directly to wounds.

While wars are terrible, the medical advances that come from them are amazing and in time will benefit us all.
I recommend this program to anyone as it is a real eye opener.
