Abdul Bah, 32, of Hercies Road, Uxbridge, denied the attack that left his victim suffering horrific flashbacks and even dismissed his defence lawyer so he could represent himself in court.
But jurors at Isleworth Crown Court saw through the rapist's lies and found him guilty after a four-day trial. He was jailed yesterday. The attack happened in July last year at about 1am. The woman, who was in her late 30s, was walking down Charnwood Road, Uxbridge, when Bah - who had approached her from behind - forced her to the ground and raped her.
He ran off - but his victim, who had been left crying in the street until police arrived, managed to give a detailed description and Bah was arrested the next day.
The victim told the court she "still [has] flashbacks of that awful night".
Scotland Yard's Det Const Jordan McGowan said: "Bah selected a complete stranger to carry out a brutal attack. The victim was a lone female who was walking home. Thankfully, with the victim's help and some good work by local officers, Bah was quickly arrested.
"Sexual violence is an abhorrent crime and Bah has been rightly imprisoned."

A jealous boyfriend who murdered his love rival to stop him showing 'intimate' pictures of his girlfriend to her devout Muslim parents is facing a life sentence. Gulam Chowdhury, 24, quoted verses from the Quran before stabbing Mohammed Yasser Afzal 20 times at the east London cab office where his victim worked. His lover Nargis Riaz, 22, was terrified Mr Afzal, who was also in a relationship with her, would show pictures of them together to her father, an Imam, and mother, the Old Bailey heard. Chowdhury told Riaz, a second year law student at City University in London, the attack was justified in Islam, saying: 'Cut the neck of the man who eyed up his wife.' He later reassured her: 'Don't worry little angel, it's me who's a psycho not you.' Chowdhury showed no emotion today (Wed) as a jury of seven men and five women found him guilty of the murder of Mr Afzal, 22, on March 24 last year. Riaz, who was also standing trial for murder, faces a retrial after the jury failed to reach a verdict after 21 hours and 37 minutes' deliberation. Their co-defendant Muhammed Khan, 23, was acquitted of assisting an offender. The court heard Riaz had been dating both Chowdhury and Mr Afzal in the weeks before the murder, but kept both relationships from her strict parents. Dramatic CCTV footage showed masked Chowdhury storm the E20 minicab company in Stratford Broadway, east London on March 24 last year. He vaulted the counter armed with a carving knife as Riaz was stood outside during the frenzied attack. Detectives investigating the murder found a series of texts between her and Chowdhury from the weeks leading up to the attack. In one message, Chowdhury repeatedly asked Riaz if she wanted his rival dead and told her: 'No one hurts Nargis and lives'. Having converted to a strict form of Islam while held in an immigration detention centre, Chowdhury regularly quoted the Quran in his messages to Riaz. He told her: 'I'm going to sort this out and sort it proper, I will use the flame from my ancestors to burn the world of this scum.' He also wrote in another message that his ancestors were 'fearless lions that would kill for honour'. Chowdhury claimed killing was justified by Islam and included a passage from the Quran which said: 'Cut the neck of the man who eyed up his wife'. In another text he wrote: 'I need to kill someone'. Prosecutor Sandip Patel QC said Riaz was treated 'like a Queen' by Mr Afzal, but had threatened to show intimate pictures to her parents during a 'difficult phase' in their relationship. 'They had known each other before and had been boyfriend and girlfriend in the past but Mr Afzal was unaware Miss Riaz was at that time seeing Mr Chowdhury,' he said. Riaz, who also worked at Primark in Hackney, claimed she did not believe Chowdhury would carry out his threats, and was described as a 'princess living in la la land'. Chowdhury, of Heenan Close, Barking, denied, but was convicted of murder. He was held at Broadmoor secure hospital prior to the trial, and was initially deemed unfit to plead due to mental health problems. Riaz, of Fanshawe Avenue, also Barking, denied murder. Khan, of (63) Lindsey Road, Dagenham, Essex, denied assisting an offender between 24 March and 26 March 2014 and was acquitted. Chowdhury is due to be sentenced on May 1 and a life sentence is inevitable. http://www.courtnewsuk.co.uk/newsgallery/?news_id=40613 |

Jailed for life: Naunihal Singh woke up his daughter-in-law’s father and slashed him with a kitchen knife
A Sikh optician who slit the throat of his daughter-in-law’s father who was in bed after a drunken family row has been jailed for life.
Naunihal Singh, 54, woke up great-grandfather Ujjal Singh, 63, and slashed him with a kitchen knife at his son and daughter-in-law’s home.
The attack in Crumpsall, Manchester, came after a heated argument over the couple's lack of children - with Ujjal accusing Naunihal's son Yawinder-Pal ‘Monty’, 37, of 'firing blanks'.
Today, Naunihal was jailed at Manchester Crown Court for at least 17 years and 39 days after admitting murder.
The court was told that at the time of the killing last November, Naunihal and his wife Jaswant, who live in India, were paying a visit to Monty, and their daughter-in-law Balvinder, 42.
Also there were Balvinder’s parents Jaginder and Ujjal from Ipswich, Suffolk - and the latter became angry at Monty for the couple’s failure to have children - accusing him of ‘firing blanks’.
After an afternoon in the pub and an evening meal, Ujjal went to bed - but tensions escalated and Monty smashed a photo frame with his hand, which saw relatives take him to hospital.
As Ujjal lay in bed, Naunihal sat at the kitchen table drinking vodka before taking a kitchen knife from a drawer. He then went into the bedroom, grabbed Ujjal’s jaw and slit his throat.
When the family returned from the hospital and found Ujjal’s blood-soaked body, an ambulance was called where one paramedic noticed Monty move the knife and told police. Monty was soon arrested on suspicion of murder.

Leonie Granger jailed for her role in gambler's death. Her boyfriend was jailed for 37 years
Jailed: Leonie-Marie Granger

The "pitiless and wicked" murderers of honeytrap victim Mehmet Hassan were each jailed at the Old Bailey today for at least 37 years.
Leonie Granger, who lured the successful poker player to death in his own Islington flat, was sentenced to 16 years for manslaughter, having been acquitted of murder and told: “You take responsibility for what occurred for the rest of your days.”
After the murder Granger had laughed as the thugs were filmed throwing the victim’s winnings around and even stuffing £50 notes into their underwear.
Just hours earlier she had been kissing Mr Hasssan, 56, passionately at the Palm Beach casino where he had given her £1,000 to spend on the tables.
It was just one of many generous gifts before she lured him in a taxi to his home where she left him at the mercy of the killers.
Guilty of murder: Leonie Granger's boyfriend Kyrron Jackson, 28
Wild applause broke out in the packed public gallery as Granger’s boyfriend Kyrron Jackson and Nicholas Chandler were led to the cells.
Judge William Kennedy also sentenced them to a total of more than 100 years in concurrent sentences for further robberies and attacks.
The judge told Granger, the glamorous brunette 25-year-old care worker, that Mr Hassan’s “death would simply not have taken place” without her involvement.
“Granger was central throughout to the events leading to the tragic consequences,” said the judge.
“She identified Mr Hassan as somebody whose lifestyle made him vulnerable to robbery. It was, to use your words form the witness box, a honey trap.
Accomplice: Nicholas Chandler, 29

Fiaz Ahmed has been jailed for eight years
A rapist was caught by a kiss - after police recovered DNA from his victim’s face.
Fiaz Ahmed is tonight beginning an eight-year jail sentence after attacking a vulnerable 50-year-old woman he followed from the street into her home.
Before raping her Ahmed, 32, demanded that the terrified woman let him give her a massage. He kissed her face, neck and back while he was doing it, unaware his saliva was leaving vital clues behind.
After the woman described her ordeal to officers, a swab was taken from her face and a positive match was obtained for convicted drug dealer Ahmed.
Ahmed, of Meldon Road, Longsight, denied rape, but was found guilty by the jury and sentenced on the spot.
Manchester Crown Court heard that the victim has a mental health condition and lives in sheltered housing in south Manchester.
Early on the morning of September 7 last year, Ahmed approached her in the street and began to talk to her, asking where she was going, where she lived and who she lived with.
Ahmed was a complete stranger to the woman, who had no interest in him. But he gripped hold of her arm and asked if she would invite him to her home.

A FORMER engineering student who raped a prostitute in a graveyard has been jailed for eight years.
Emmanuel Mutandi had denied raping his victim, and maintains that the two had consensual sex.
However, the 22-year-old was convicted of the "violent rape" in the early hours of Saturday, August 2 2014 at the conclusion of a three-day trial at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Mutandi had originally agreed to pay his victim £40 for full sexual intercourse, but after the pair walked from Southcote Road to St Clement’s Church in Boscombe, said he only had a £20 note.
The woman - who had returned to prostitution after three years in a desperate bid for money - performed a sex act on him.
However, as she attempted to leave afterwards, he “grabbed” her and told her he wanted full sex, viciously battering her after the rape.
She suffered injuries including bruising and damage to her teeth in the assault, which Zimbabwean Mutandi admitted at an earlier hearing before a judge.

A rapist who subjected a girl to more than a decade of sexual abuse was today jailed for 20 years.
Ikhlaque Nazir Chohdry, 58, of Emerald Road in north west London, was found guilty last week of five counts of rape of a female and six counts of indecent assault.
Police said their inquiries had established his victim was targeted a number of times between when she was aged between seven and 20.
Chohdry was arrested as part of their investigation in May 2013 and later charged.
Today he was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court to two decades in prison.
Scotland Yard's Detective Constable Luke Williams said: "Chohdry subjected the victim to a horrific ordeal of abuse from a very young age. I commend her bravery in coming forward and providing the evidence that brought him to justice.
"This sentence illustrates that society is unwilling to accept this abhorrent behaviour. The Met will continue to work tirelessly to keep the children of London safe, and ensure that victims are given the opportunity to be heard."
Chohdry was found not guilty of one count of rape and one count of attempted anal rape of a male under 16, police said.

Bhakia Muthu, 33, used her position as a customers services advisor at a branch in Tooting, south London, to intercept the cheque books destined for individuals and businesses.
Fraudsters, armed with the customers' signatures, then wrote out a string of dodgy cheques to raid the accounts.
Fourteen customers fell prey to Muthu's scheme between February and April 2012, the Old Bailey heard.
She claimed to have been framed by someone using her account and log-in details, but a jury found her guilty on all 14 counts of fraud.
Judge Gerald Gordon freed Muthu on bail until the sentencing hearing, but warned her jail is a likely punishment.
The judge heard £30,000 had been recovered by NatWest, but said he wants to know how much of the stolen £87,000 went to the mother-of-one before he passes sentence.
Muthu, who came under suspicion in December 2012 when NatWest documents were recovered from a man's home during an unconnected search.
'This was a fraud which involved a number of different people and the key is this - in order to cash the cheques the fraudster's would need to have a signature which resembled the true account holder's signature', said prosecutor Nathan Rasiah.
'In this case, each of the cheques that was cashed bore a signature resembling the true account holder's signature.
'In order to commit this fraud they needed someone on the inside.'
As a customer advisor, Muthu was able to log into the bank's internal computer system and access customer details, including signatures.
Her details had been used to access all of the victim's details from the Tooting branch.
The fraud gang tried to cash forged cheques for amounts between £400 and £4,000.
Muthu, of Sherrard Road, East Ham, east London, denied 14 counts of fraud by abuse of position.
She is due to be sentenced on June 8.

Fraudsters duped 61 investors into parting with £1.8 million after promising 'massive share returns' if they backed the Inca Pacific Gold and Mining company.
Widower John Bailey was 75 when he started to invest in the scam and is still being hounded for cash despite losing £419,525 to the cheats.
Another victim, Gilbert Palmer, was in his late 60s when he lost his life savings of £154,452.61 and has only received a bottle of wine in return.
The gang also used second fraudulent company Dyno Medical to swindle almost £1 million.
Abdul Sultan Khan, Rahim Karim, Anthony Baugh and Nadeem Amin have already pleaded guilty to the conspiracy.
Wasim Karim, 36, is facing trial at Southwark Crown Court after his fingerprints were found on documents sent out by the Inca Pacific Gold and Mining company.
Prosecutor Gareth Mundy said the issue was not 'whether Mr Karim did the actions' but whether he was 'party to the agreement'.
He read a statement from retired electrical engineer Mr Bailey who decided to invest in Inca Pacific after being plagued by cold callers.
'His family have always purchased and sold stocks and shares and he himself had done so since 1956,' said Mr Mundy.
He was 'alone with time on his hands' after his wife passed away in 1991 and his daughter had moved away.
'In 2006 he was contacted out of the blue by a man in a company in Spain,' said Mr Mundy.
'He was taken in and the man seemed plausible...
'From 2006 he was contacted by way of a cold call by a number of individuals purporting to be representing a number of firms selling shares in a significant number of companies.'
Mr Bailey started ploughing cash into overseas businesses and each time he invested he received what appeared to be a 'genuine share certificate'.
By October 2009 Mr Bailey was funnelling his savings into Inca Pacific, purchasing £10,040 of worthless shares in the company.
Mr Bailey was then contacted by a man calling himself Derek White who told him he worked for the Ace Group and was based in Leadenhall Street in London.
Under White's instructions, Mr Bailey invested thousands more in Inca Pacific.
'I purchased 3,000 shares after much pressure to do so,' he wrote in a statement.
When he tried to sell his shares and recoup the cash, he was met with a barrage of excuses and offered a deal with second fraudulent company Dyno Medical.
But he was then told he was buying the shares too cheaply and that the Office of Fair Trading had intervened.
Mr Bailey was conned into parting with a further £50,027 to seal the deal.
The cheats promised he would receive a £250,000 payout after 100,000 shares were successfully sold for him and asked to stump up a £30,000 early repayment fee.
'After this all went quiet, I kept looking at my account online but couldn't see any payment in from Ace so I tried to call them,' said Mr Bailey.
The conman then spoke to his victim in a 'panicked call' but still tried to squeeze more money out of him, even threatening to donate the £250,000 to the Inland Revenue as a charity payment if he did not cough up the fee.
'On 28 July 2012 Staffordshire Police visited me at the request of the Metropolitan Police and told me I had been the victim of a scam, a fraud,' said Mr Bailey.
Mr Bailey lost £419,535 to the ruthless scam.
Mr Munday said: 'He continues to receive calls from some of these people and from others introducing themselves, sometimes he can have two or three calls a day in quick succession.'
Smooth talking salesmen assured potential investors they were a 'highly successful trading company with significant prospects of growth', jurors were told.
But the companies were 'no more than shells with no real value' and were set up under assumed names using fake passports and bogus addresses, the court heard.
'It was a complete and utter sham,' said Mr Mundy.
One investor lost her 'entire life savings' of £77,000 to the scam while a further client was simply 'met with silence' when she tried to withdraw her investment.
Karim, of (12) Coniston Close, Gamston, Notts, denies two charges of conspiracy to defraud.
The trial continues.

Hamid Zaman
A university dropout subjected a woman to a savage sex attack - months after being spared jail for abducting a schoolgirl.
Hamid Zaman, 35, raped his latest victim twice in woodland. During an early morning attack lasting an hour-and-a-half, he beat her with such ferocity that a witness told court he thought she was being murdered.
Cocaine-crazed Zaman was in such a frenzy arriving police had to Taser him.
At the time of the attack the former Kent University law student, of Dickenson Road, Longsight, was subject to a three-year community order which required him to attend a sex offenders’ treatment programme.
That sentence followed his 2013 conviction for abduction, after he lured a 14-year-old girl to his home. He has another conviction for spitting in a woman’s face after making a lewd remark to her.
Hulking Zaman has now been jailed for 12 years after brutally attacking a young woman at Boggart Hole Clough, Blackley. He was found guilty of rape and GBH with intent at an earlier trial.
Grabbing hold of her in the woods, he told the woman ‘don’t p*** me off - I’m not a nice person’, before pulling her to the ground.
He then throttled and raped her, before dragging her down a hill, beating her about the head and face, and raping her again as she tried to fight him off.
During her ordeal Zaman snorted cocaine from the woman’s bare chest, showed her indecent images that appeared to depict underage girls, jabbed a broken bottle at her neck, hit her in the face with a brick, stamped on her head, forced her head into a hole in the ground and threatened to bury her alive.
Witnesses who heard her cries told police they saw Zaman - naked from the waist down - hitting her with a branch, threatening her with a knife, and hitting her about the head with a bottle.
Appealing successfully to the judge not to brand Zaman a ‘dangerous offender’ - which would make harder for him to get parole - Iain Johnstone, defending, said: “There doesn’t appear to be a pattern of offending and there doesn’t appear to be a substantial risk of serious harm to the degree required in the legislation.”
Sending down Zaman and making an order barring him from going near the victim, Judge Robert Brown at Manchester Crown Court said he’d caused ‘physical and psychological harm’ to the victim, who is now fighting depression.

'Business': Keith Walker, Christopher White, Courtney Bishop, Nigel Bishop and Allan Smith kidnapped and tortured two men between them in 2013 (Pictures: Met Police)
thousands of pounds, have been jailed for a total of 63 years.
The mob, which included twin brothers, left one of their victims at death's door, police said today. They "treated kidnap and torture as a business", taking one victim's house keys and raided his home while he was imprisoned in their north London flat.
The Old Bailey heard today how both victims, targeted just days apart, were kidnapped from their homes in May 2013. They were blindfolded and brutally attacked before being stuffed into a car and driven to a west London tower block - later identified as Dorney in Hampstead.
Once there, each man was tied up, gagged and beaten savagely - leaving one with a broken eye socket - before being burnt with boiling water and an iron.
The second man, 24, was so badly beaten up he ended up with kidney failure in intensive care.
Courtney Bishop, Nigel Bishop, Keith Walker, Allan Smith and Christopher White grabbed their first victim, 27, from the street outside his Upper Holloway house, while the second man was taken from inside his Enfield home two days later, after the first man had been dumped in Chalk Farm.
The men, four of whom were sentenced today, were convicted of conspiracy to kidnap, conspiracy to falsely imprison, conspiracy to blackmail, GBH, and conspiracy to burgle.
Det Sgt Tim Mustoe said: "The defendants were members of a violent gang that treated kidnap and torture as a business.
"They had no regard for the impact their offending had on the victims or the victim's families."
Both men's families were contacted and cash was demanded and paid for their release. The second man's loved ones were told his fingers would be cut off unless they coughed up £30,000.
After the ransom was paid he came round in the back seat of his own car, severely injured.
Despite the blindfolding and brutal attack carried out on him, the first victim managed to describe the interior of the flat, which had a distinctive circular window and views of Wembley Stadium.
Scotland Yard detectives scoured the area around the stadium before finally identifying the gang's stronghold, a flat in the Adelaide Road block.
Through forensics and CCTV all five men - who are jobless - were arrested more than a year on from the kidnappings.
Courtney Bishop, 27, of Dunelm Grove, Lambeth, was jailed for 24 years after being convicted of all five charges against both victims. Nigel Bishop, his twin brother of the same address, and Walker, 35, of Lindsey Close, Mitcham, were jailed for 14 years for offences against the second man.
Smith, 28, of Tufnell Park Road, Islington, was jailed for 11 years for the attack on the first victim.
White, 29, of Bute Road, Croydon, will be sentenced for the same offences as Courtney Bishop at a later date.

Trevor Gayle, left, and the gun found in a sock at his home
A man caught with a deadly handgun hidden in a sock at his home has been jailed.
Police also found more than 100 rounds of ammunition together with crack cocaine and heroin worth more than £1,200 at Trevor Gayle’s home in Chorlton.
The weapon, a Kimar self-loading pistol, had been converted to fire live bullets. The guns usually fire only blank 8mm cartridges
The seizure on Claude Road by officers from GMP Xcalibre Task Force last July came just days after the end of a gun amnesty across Greater Manchester.

Duane Mills and Irfan Hanif
A letting agent was kidnapped and tortured for up to 16 hours after being blamed for the loss of a cannabis farm.
The father-of-two was rescued in a bruised and breathless state from a flat on Shotton Walk in Rusholme after being held hostage.
Officers later learned that the victim was a letting agent blamed for the loss of a £3,000 cannabis farm by his captor Duane Mills, 32, of Broadstone Hall Road, Heaton Chapel.
Mills has now been jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of kidnap, false imprisonment, assault and blackmail.
His lawyer told Manchester Crown Court he was a hardworking plasterer who ‘genuinely believed he was entitled’ to repayment of money he had saved up and ‘lost his temper’.
Mills’ henchman Irfan Hanif, 46, of Daisy Bank Road, Longsight, admitted kidnap and was jailed for seven years and two months.
Judge Michael Leeming, sentencing, said the offences had a ‘profound effect’ on the victim.
Plagued by flashbacks, he has been treated in a mental hospital and diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.
The court heard Mills used a property on Daisy Bank Road, Longsight, to grow 50 cannabis plants. The letting agent gave him the keys to that property as ‘collateral’ on a £1,600 loan he gave him.
Events took a violent turn last October when Mills turned up at Daisy Bank Road to find the locks changed and believed the letting agent had ‘ratted’ on him.
Mills’ pal Hanif was brought in to translate to the victim’s wife as Mills tried to track him down.
When the letting agent returned home he got into the backseat of Mills’ hired Seat Leon.
But as Hanif drove to Rusholme the man was punched, bitten and placed in a headlock by irate Mills, who placed a battery-powered drill against his leg as he demanded his money back.
A coat was then put over the man’s head as he was bundled into the flat.
Overnight he was threatened, menaced with a knife, beaten, bitten, threatened with boiling water and made to fear he would be shot and savaged by a bull terrier.
The victim made dozens of calls to his brother pleading for money before being rescued the following afternoon. During the incident Hanif tried to rein in Mills but also ran errands for him.
Mills has a 2002 conviction for a GBH offence where he took a man who owed him £400 hostage and attacked him with a hot iron.

Jailed: Sameer Khan, Xavier Christopher and Yousaf Khan (Picture: Metropolitan Police)
Two teenagers kidnapped and tortured a childhood friend by carving their initials into his forehead and urinating on him.
The twister pair lured their teenage victim to a secluded alleyway and subjected him to nearly three hours of horrific abuse, police said.
Yousaf Khan, 19, and Xavier Christopher, 18, are this week starting lengthy jail terms after carrying out the sickening crime on August 24 last year in Northolt, north-west London.
They made repeated threats against the victim and his family before Khan punched him hard in the face, police said.
Khan, of Fulham Palace Road in Fulham, west London, then pulled out a flick knife and carved his initials into the teenager’s forehead.
Christopher, of Eastcote Lane, Northolt, grabbed the knife and carved letters onto his arm.
They also urinated on him as the ordeal lasted for nearly three hours, police said.
The teenager was eventually made to go to his home to fetch money, where he was able to raise the alarm.
They made him wear a helmet to hide his injuries, and told him to keep his phone on so they could listen in to what he was saying, but the connection was cut off when another call came in.
Both were arrested over the next week. After they were charged, Khan’s older brother Sameer Khan, 23, arranged for the victim to be attacked in the street in an effort to stop him giving evidence at court.
Yousaf Khan and Christoper both pleaded guilty to kidnap, false imprisonment and wounding at Isleworth Crown Court in February.
They have now been jailed for nine and eight years respectively.
Sameer Khan, also of Fulham Palace Road, received two years after pleading guilty to witness intimidation.
Detective Constable Michael Currie said: "The victim was put through a horrific ordeal by someone he trusted as a friend.
"I hope this sentence allows the victim to move on and demonstrates that this type of action will be met with the full force of the law."
