A man has been jailed for drugs offences today after he threw a bag of cocaine out of a car window before being stopped by Greater Manchester Police.
Rikki Srao, 35, of Windsor Road in Newton Heath, pleaded guilty to possession Class A drugs with intent supply at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to 31 months in prison at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square.
Srao was pulled over by police on Mancunian Way on April 8, 2015.
He had thrown a bag, containing an ounce of high-purity cocaine, out of the window.

He also tried to dismantle a Samsung mobile phone which he was holding, removing the battery and dropping the SIM card on the pavement.
But both were recovered by police plus £1,600 in cash which he had in his trouser pocket.
More cocaine was also recovered at his home address.
Detective Constable Adam Cronshaw of Challenger Manchester North said: “Srao operated in the upper tiers of the drug dealing world and must now accept the consequences.
"I hope this sentence provides him with plenty time to reflect on his life choices.
“Drugs damage our communities, however another drug dealer has been taken off our streets and is now behind bars.”

The victims were stabbed 24 times after being lured into a trap by up to eleven men in a quiet residential street in east London.

Their wounds were so horrific they looked like gunshot victims and one witness likened the attackers to 'a pack of wild animals'.

Lukman Miah

A man who bought three young girls chocolate in a bid to groom them has been jailed.
Lukman Miah 29, was found with three girls aged 12, 14 and 15 in his car after being stopped by police in Bolton November last year.
He had also been found to be smoking cannabis.
He was arrested and charged over the incident.
And Miah, of Begonia Avenue, Farnworth, pleaded guilty to four counts child abduction at Bolton Crown Court.
He was today sentenced to two years in prison.
Speaking after the case, Detective Sergeant Pete Astbury of Bolton division said: “Miah had targeted the girls, knowing how young they were, and bought them chocolate and gave them money in an attempt to groom them.
“Thankfully, Miah he has been caught and will face the consequences of his actions.”

Trio jailed over knife killing of south London man in broad daylight on housing estate.

Three men have been jailed over the knife killing of a man on the streets of south London because a serving prisoner had called for "revenge" on him.

Music promoter Olamide Fasina, 25, was attacked by an armed gang on the Thamesmead Estate, Erith, in broad daylight last October.
Witnesses said Mr Fasina, nicknamed Trigger but also known as Ben, was seen "crawling" along Wolvercote Road in search of help before collapsing.
An air ambulance landed in the playing field of a nearby primary school and doctors and a paramedic performed surgery in the street in a 30-minute battle to save him before he was pronounced dead.

A predator who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old as she took a London bus to school has been jailed.

Harvinder Singh, 24, forced the girl to "commit acts of a sexual nature" during the ordeal on a route 120 bus between Hounslow and Southall.
He had sat next to his victim before beginning to touch her and then launching the horrific sex assault afterwards.
His victim eventually managed to get off the bus - but was followed to her school gates by the attacker in February.
Singh, of Minterne Avenue, Southall, was jailed for two years after feeling at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday.
He has been placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years, and will be deported to India after serving his sentence.
Transport for London's director of enforcement, Steve Burton, said: "Thanks to the bravery of this victim in reporting this terrible offence the Met were able to track down and subsequently help convict this predatory criminal."

A serial rapist who committed a string of violent and depraved sex assaults after being freed from prison on licence has been jailed for life.

Daniel Elliott, 24, subjected three victims - including girls as young as 15 and 16 - to "unimaginable" horror after being released from his prison for the rape of a Japanese student he attacked in 2010.
Within months of being freed, Elliott had committed two rapes and several other offences in a string terrifying sex attacks.

In the first of three separate attacks, he grabbed a 28-year-old woman round the neck from behind as she walked along a footpath in Wallington, south-west London, on the night of August 3 last year. He threatened to stab the woman before sexually assaulting her and fleeing the scene, police said.
Around a month later, Elliott struck again, threatening a 16-year-old girl and her boyfriend of the same age with pepper spray as they walked down Church Path in Chiswick.
The attacker forced the pair to the ground and held a tin can to the victim's eyes as he sexually assaulted and then raped her.
In November last year, Elliott launched another horrifying assault after approaching a 17-year-old boy and his 15-year-old girlfriend in a fenced children's playground in Carshalton.
He punched the boy in the face and dragged him to the ground before threatening to stab him and calling over the girl. The sick attacker then digitally penetrated and tried to rape her.
When she resisted, he threatened to stab the boy, before proceeding to orally raping her and fleeing the scene.
Elliott, 24, of, Rosewell Close, Penge, had previously been jailed in 2010 for raping a 19-year-old Japanese student who had only been in the UK for two days. He had preyed on the vulnerable victim after she became separated from friends, police said.
He was convicted on May 21 at Southwark Crown Court of two counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, one count of digital penetration and one count of sexual touching on 21 May.
Today, he was jailed for life at the same court.
Detective Inspector Keith Ward, of the Metropolitan Police's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: "These were planned, targeted and violent stranger rapes. Elliott is clearly an extremely ruthless, predatory and dangerous man.
"This prosecution would not have been possible without the courage of the victims who were willing to support proceedings. The physical and emotional impact on them of the abhorrent actions of Elliott are impossible to quantify.
"The victims have been subjected to a nightmare of unimaginable proportions and I praise them for their exceptional bravery. I hope that the conviction and today's sentence will offer them some comfort. Our thoughts are very much with them at this time.
"I am very pleased that Elliott will be off the streets for such a long time. He is a danger to the public and the sentence the judge has handed down that fits the horrific crimes he committed."

A security guard was today jailed for 25 years after he lured a woman to his flat, drugged her cup of tea and raped her while she was unconscious.
Kwame Boakye, 53, raped the woman and a second victim at his home in Evelyn Street, Deptford, by using his influence in the Ghanaian community to befriend them.
He persuaded his first victim to come to his home, by saying that he could help her find work, Woolwich Crown Court heard.
But when she arrived, he drugged her cup of tea before raping her on November 22, 2012, jurors were told.
He was arrested on suspicion of rape the following month but denied attacking the woman - saying he was impotent.
Whilst on bail, he raped a second Ghanaian woman who he also lured to his home by pretending he was a clothes trader in Ghana.
He then "carried out a campaign of intimidation and threats" to repeatedly coerce the woman into returning to his flat over a series of weeks so he could rape her, police said.

Father jailed for forcing daughter to marry man aged in 30s on her 14th birthday

Judge at Manchester Crown Court said schoolgirl was 'betrayed' by her father after she was woken on her birthday and forced to marry the Bangladeshi man in family's lounge room .

A schoolgirl was woken in her bed on her 14th birthday and forced to marry a man aged in his 30s in the lounge of her family home.
Her father has now been jailed after he admitted child cruelty.
The girl’s husband, now in Bangladesh, went on to sexually assault her.
She had no idea what was going on during the ceremony, which was performed by an Imam, or the language being spoken, but was ‘pinched’ by a relative at certain points to indicate that she should speak, a court was told.

The ceremony, conducted in Bengali, took place at the family home in Longsight in 2013. Her siblings were told to go to school.
Manchester Crown Court was told that relatives came up to her bedroom and dressed her in ‘wedding finery and jewellery’.
Elizabeth Nichols, prosecuting, said there were ‘cultural pressures’ forced on the girl’s father by others and he was ‘not alone’ in facilitating the marriage, but said he was ‘uniquely placed’ to protect her.
The MEN isn’t naming the girl or her father despite his conviction and sentence for legal reasons.
The case came to light when the girl ran away from home and flagged down a passing police car.
Ms Nichols said she felt in fear and believed she had ‘no alternative’ but to go through with the arranged marriage.
She said: “She was woken on the morning of her 14th birthday and told that she was to remain home from school because she was to be married.
"She was taken downstairs where the ceremony was performed in Bengali by an Imam.
“She says she did not understand the language. An aunt stood behind her and pinched her at the appropriate time for her to speak.”
The court heard she was immediately taken back upstairs after the ceremony and undressed.
Ms Nichols said: “This was done so that when the other children returned, they would not think that anything extraordinary had happened.
“She told the police officer that she had been forced to take part in a marriage and said that her husband had forced her to have sexual intercourse, which was the trigger for her to run away.”
Her father, who has no previous convictions, was in Bangladesh at the time she ran away but returned home at once and surrendered.
But the court heard that in initial interviews, he told police that a birthday party had taken place and the Imam attended to give his daughter a blessing.
The court was told that the victim has become a ‘strong young woman’ who now ‘knows her own mind’ and is ‘desperate’ to return home.
Bunty Batra, defending, said her father now ‘displayed real insight’ and posed no threat after being placed on a series of forced marriage courses.
He said: “He did not envisage or wish any harm to come to his daughter.
"He would never have consented, and did not consent, to any physical contact. The marriage, in my submission, is clearly void. The complainant has not given her consent.
“A message has clearly has to be sent out to communities. Values and beliefs have to be adapted.”
The girl’s father was jailed for 14 weeks.
Judge Patrick Field QC said the ceremony was ‘beyond her understanding’ because she didn’t speak Bengali.
He told her father: “It was not your intention that there should be any physical contact between husband and wife until she was 18.
“But this case is brought against you because you are her father. You owe to her certain grave duties.
"Duties to nurture and to protect your daughter during her childhood. You were in breach of those duties. By forcing her into this union you betrayed her.
“It is important to stress that the law of England and Wales is that young girls should be free from such a threat and the courts will be diligent in enforcing this law.”
It’s understood that the man the girl married is now in Bangladesh.
No charges are being brought against anyone else.

A man who raped a female student in a bush before assaulting a passerby who tried to help was jailed for 14 years after police used a selfie to identify him.

Shumel Anamul Ahmed hid in some shrubbery before pouncing on his 19-year-old victim and beating her up.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to rape and assault with intent to rob at Southampton Crown Court on Thursday.

The attack on February 26 started after Ahmed grabbed his victim round the neck after she became separated from friends on her way home from a night out, prosecutors said.

He repeatedly punched the woman in the head and threatened to kill her if she did not stop screaming, it was said.

The attack was stopped when a passerby, an 18-year-old man, heard the victim's screams and attempted to intervene.

Rachel Robertson, prosecuting, said: 'She knew if she struggled it would get worse. She lay there praying for help. She said: "I won't tell anyone, just don't kill me".

'Her prayers to some degree were answered when she heard someone saying "what's going on".'

Ahmed assaulted the helper, leaving him with a chipped tooth, concussion and a black eye, before trying to steal his wallet and mobile phone, the court heard.

The woman, who managed to escape, suffered a hairline fracture to her jaw.

Two car thieves high on drink and drugs have been jailed for their roles in the death of a popular teenager.

Sakhawat Ali was twice the drink drive limit and had taken cocaine as well as smoked cannabis before he crashed his uncle's car, killing passenger and aspiring beautician Xana Doyle, 19.

Cardiff Crown Court heard the 23-year-old defendant, who admitted to 'showing off' while behind the wheel, was distracted moments before the 60mph crash after his drugged-up cousin Shabaz Ali, 21, attempted to pull the handbrake from the rear passenger seat as a joke.

The stolen Toyota Avensis then hit the kerb before going 10 feet in the air as if it had 'hit a stunt ramp' before flipping on its roof.

Both Alis managed to crawl out of crumpled wreckage - while a screaming 15-year-old girl in the front seat and a fatally injured Ms Doyle in the back were trapped inside.

The pair then told 'lie after lie' to police arriving at the scene - even claiming they were walking down the street when the crash happened.

And although the two cousins would later plead guilty - they continued to point the finger at one another.

Their attempts to downplay their involvement prompted a three day 'Newton hearing' to establish key facts in the case.

Following three hours of legal arguments, Judge Neil Bidder QC said he was completely satisfied both men were jointly responsible for the fatal crash.

He said the accident had been caused by drink, drugs, excessive speed as well as the behaviour of the younger defendant.

KHAN: JAIL FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT WHO KILLED SHAM BRIDE

A Pakistani immigrant who stabbed his Bulgarian wife to death after she refused to help him stay in Britain was jailed for at least 20 today (Fri).

Jamshaid Khan, 30, knifed 27-year-old masseuse Milena Khan 14 times during a row over his visa application at their home in Forest Gate, southwest London.

Khan was so desperate to avoid deportation that he had already started looking for a replacement bride by posing as a successful law graduate and even claimed his wife was already dead.

He told police that he acted in self defence after Milena attacked him with the knife but was convicted of murder by an Old Bailey jury on Monday.

Judge Stephen Kramer QC today (Fri) sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum jail term of 20 years.

Three men who gagged, tied up and assaulted an elderly couple during a violent robbery at their home have been jailed.

Two of the men forced their way into the home in Petts Wood, south-east London, as a 69-year-old was leaving his house at around 5am on a Monday morning in June last year.
They then attacked the victim, repeatedly punching him in the face, before tying him up with his 67-year-old wife during the terrifying raid.
After gagging them and further assaulting them, they ransacked the house over the course of the "horrific" hour-long ordeal.
Eventually the men left the house with the contents of a safe as well as cash, jewellery and watches worth a total of around £300,000.
The husband was left needing an operation to pin his shoulder back into place, while his wife was taken to hospital for facial injuries and shock.
It later emerged that one of the group involved was a member of the victims' extended family and had arranged the robbery. He had previously worked for the victims' company but had left over "financial irregularities".
Detective Sergeant Gary Head, of Bromley Police, said after three men were jailed for the crime: "This was an extremely vicious and violent robbery. The victims were attacked and robbed in their own home and over £300,000 worth of property was stolen - none of which has ever been recovered.
"This robbery was made even more sickening as it was organised by Zahid Sait, a member of the victims' own extended family.
"The victims were forced to relive this horrifying ordeal in the trial that took place recently and I must commend them both for their bravery in doing so. I know how difficult and upsetting this was for them."
Zahid Sait, 42, of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment at Croydon Crown Court on Friday.
Kyio Scarlett-Hudson, 20, of Pound Lane, Willesden, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit robbery and sentenced to eight years' imprisonment.
Junior Miller, 37, of Pyrland Road, Highbury, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery, two counts of false imprisonment, possession of a firearm and possession of Class B.
drugs and was sentenced to 16 years' imprisonment.
